Tom Bailey discovered dance music in his early teens, getting a taste for house through various mainstream compilations and mix CDs. Early influences included Radio 1’s Pete Tong & Judge Jules. After Trance got it's much heralded renaissance in 1999 Tom began to focus his energy on the pursuit of this new ‘euphoric’ sound. Tom developed an interest in DJs such as Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren & Paul van Dyk, the very same DJs that would inspire Tom to finally take the plunge and get into DJing himself buying his first decks and mixer in March 2004. Tom’s initial forays took in a more techno infused sound combining the productions of artists such as Randy Katana & Sander van Doorn and labels like Reset & Intec. However after being captivated by DJs such as Markus Schulz & Jon O’Bir Tom’s focus shifted toward a new more progressive sound. Tom’s interest in this new sound led him to the discovery of artists such as Perry O’Neil, Gabriel & Dresden & Andy Moor and coupled with the emergence of labels like Electronic Elements, Coldharbour & Baroque Tom began to find his niche. This new direction gave Tom a new drive and hunger for DJing giving him the impetus to share his music with the world. Tom began by uploading and hosting his own mixes through various websites and message boards. Initial feedback was good and Tom began to produce monthly mixes each one a new progression on the last helping the Wolverhampton based DJ to further develop and hone his skills. In early 2006 Tom uploaded his ‘January Promo mix’ to various message boards to great acclaim. This set came to the attention of two people in particular that would aid Tom’s progress and drive him onwards towards success. The first person to contact Tom regarding the ‘January Promo mix’ was none other than Galaxy Fm’s Paul Kershaw. Paul’s weekly radio show ‘Solid State’ regularly features some of the world’s top DJs and goes out via national FM radio in the UK and worldwide via the internet to an audience of millions. Paul had stumbled across Tom’s mix via one of the message boards and proceeded to ask Tom if it could be featured as the winning ‘Rising Star’ mix for the month of January. As well as giving a short interview Tom had 30minutes of his mix aired on this huge medium. Following on from this breakthrough appearance Tom’s mixes have graced scores of Internet radio stations. Tom has held down regular residencies with his shows The Progressive Showcase, The Logical Progression & most recently The Progression Sessions. As well as these regular shows Tom has appeared as a guest on various other stations, enabling him to build a loyal & enthusiastic web-based following. As well as Internet exposure Tom’s mixes have also graced FM radio across the globe. A further appearance on Galaxy FM in the UK was coupled with guest slots on HFM in Ibiza, Sunshine Radio in Tenerife & the Canary Islands, XM Satellite Radio in the USA and Worldspace Satellite Radio going out worldwide. Coupled with a lengthy broadcasting resume 2007 saw Tom breaking out into UK clubland with appearances across the country. Highlights included playing to a sold out Corsica Studios for ElectronicSessions in London and then being asked to return for the same promotion’s ‘Summer Spectacular’. Another sell out event, which took place aboard a huge party boat cruising along the River Thames! Alongside these terrific London appearances Tom has played the nation’s second city Birmingham regularly & has included visits to the North East & to the city of Bristol in his schedule, further helping to swell his ever growing fan base. 2007 has been the breakthrough year for Tom & as it draws to a close the ambitious young DJ will look to continue his ascent with further nationwide bookings & a continued dedication to presenting the finest progressive dance music through his radio based appearances.
