Twistix started mixing in summer 2006. Some of her mates were mixing around her, and she'd never really given dance music a thought. She was more into rock and metal, and spent most of her spare time going to rock gigs all over the country. This was all completely different. As all of her new found freinds were iether raving, mixing, or getting on the mic, she was influenced quickely, althogh she never quite fell into the mainstream jump up that most people were playing.
She was brought up around music, her dad played in bands since before she was born, and even ended up building his own studio with the best equipment going. He tried to teach her guitar, but she never really stuck to one thing, playing guitar, keyboard drums and piano. She found she got bored of things quickely, but not when it came to mixing, but because of her musical background, she picked it up easily, and was well on her way within just a few months.
A mate lent her a set of decks, and after months of saving, eventually got a set of technics. She started spending every penny on records, and at her peak, she was practising 2 hours a night without fail, and four hours at the weekend. She became hooked. People would find her in the record shop first thing on a saturday mornig. She started doing a few sets out and about, and making loads of cd's and putting them about - to freinds, and other people she knew. Eventually Terra got hold of one, and liked what he heard. He gave her a set on Subliminal, and who knows what the future holds.
She say's: 'I’m loving the dark liquid stuff I’m hearing at the moment, from the likes of icicle & switch, nymfo, logistics. I like listening to what I call technical drum and bass, where it isn’t just a tune - it’s music. I think a lot of jump up tunes out there at the moment (even though they’re bangin’ ?) are just tunes. It’s just a collective of sounds that go well with other sounds, whereas some of the more technical people such as High Contrast, write music, and it’s these people who inspire and motivate me. Although a kick up the butt from my close mates helps too.'
