TR017
A: Technikal & Simon Qudos – Gear Shift
B: Technikal & Will Courtis – Dedicate
Format: MP3

Fast approaching their twentieth release, Technikal Recordings is back once again with a new double A side release headed up by its head honcho Technikal. Pulling no punches with release 17, Technikal goes straight for the jugular with collaborations with studio guests Simon Qudos & Will Courtis.
Heading up the package is ‘Gear Shift’, a voyage through the different sounds we’ve come to associate with the harder spectrum of music. Shifting it’s way through the different states of hard trance, freeform, hardcore and speedcore, it then drops back to a sensible BPM for the dark and sinister crescendo buildup. This is a real quirky little track and we wouldn’t be surprised to hear a big variety of hard DJs finding place to drop this into their sets!
No less fearsome however is ‘Dedicate’. This is Will Courtis’ debut release and first collaboration with his acquaintance Technikal. The track is underpinned by a Sentience-esque grooveline, which really gives the track a nice retro feel in the percussion department. The bassline takes inspiration from today’s UK hard trance with a small dosage of psy trance, all backed up by one of those monster riffs that Technikal has really come to be known for. If you’ve been missing that classic Technikal sound, get some of this in your life!
