William aka Willsilk/Dj Tubz Silk


Will Silk hails from the most Southern tip of Africa – beautiful and colourful Cape Town. With over a decade of nightlife experience under his belt and hours of words to spew just about music, if you ever get to know Will you’ll realise quickly why he has and always will be known as the man behind you all the way, especially if you play tunes that make him groove!
Will has played his part in some of the most important trends in dance music, with his collective influence stretching out between London and South Africa through his friendships with several big name DJs. Will is the kind of guy you never see but who always has the last word: the confirmation of which manifests in a nickname given to him by DJ Little Leigh: “Silent Bob”.
Even though Will may appear silent it’s for a very good reason, after all if you love music this much then there’s not much talking to be done! No matter the genre, he really puts all his effort into helping make any promoter’s party as sexy and banging as possible, whatever it takes. And from a DJ’s point of view, it’s also considered a pretty damn positive sign if you spot Will bopping to your tunes!


Willsilk had a rough upbringing in Cape Town and learned to party from the age of twelve. The nightclub industry was a big part of the family business. Still, he cruised around, fake ID in pocket and admiration for all the respect earned by DJs and club owners. The next logical step: get a pair of turntables at 14 years and get involved in house parties and promotions around Cape Town.
Also in Will Silk’s Cape Town portfolio is Studio 47’s monthly events, Club Galleries, Euphoric Sessions and Unity’s Legless parties to name a few. But in 2002 he packed up his bags and left sunny Cape Town for the big smoke of the UK – London! Now the right hand man to promoter/producer Gareth Rossi, Will Silk spends his time playing host to big-name DJ events and all-out parties in London!
Venues Will Silk has worked with include The Whitehouse, London Pacha, Ministry of Sound, Scala, Hidden and many, many more. With the assistance of Will silk, these parties tend to anything between 300 and 2000 people and have hosted names like Sleazy G, Troydon, Smokingroove, Micky Slim, Will Bailey, Mark Maitland, Inland Knights, Lady Lea and Ricardo Da Costa.
Will Silk is a man that never sleeps. He has a finger in every musical pie and always a good story to tell. From growing up as a hip-hop influenced, jacking house fan he’s finally found his heart and soul in a newly-founded genre called Fidget with its wonky basslines, dub step and garage-influenced style. New projects in 2009 including assisting and promoting production newcomers Dylan Holshaussen, Wonk, Young Nutz, Stellio and The Squatters.
