So lovely!

So Ingers, in Holland, do you get picked up from the house by your groom and walk down the aisle together?

It was a boat.

It was a boat.

I meant more in reference to the way here in the UK your father takes you to the church (what with it being back luck to see the groom etc) and hands you over to your waiting groom at the altar/boat/castle etc

Looking at DD's your groom takes you to marry him. Which is cute I think.

It's a nice point of difference.

My Dad did give me away at the church service. Difference in Holland is that state and church are seperated. You have to have a civil wedding to get married by law as well then have a church service which in fact is a blessing of the marriage, we also chose to exchange rings at the second ceremony.

Ussually the legal service takes place at a city or council hall, and is always performed by a civil servant. The council where we married also offers alternative locations tho, and in this case rented the church building and so for the fisrt part of our wedding it was a "house of the council". All photo's on DSI are off this part of the day only.

We actually had a small break in between (where we had ice creams in the sun, a little touch of doing things just a bit different and nicer for our guests) whilst the relicks where put back in place, after this the church regained it's status as "house of God" and the minister performed the second part.

I only posted the legal service on here which took ages as the files are just massive. If you want to see the rest of the photo's which were all by our official photographer, including the bit where Guido comes to pick me upffrom the house in a Bentley and the photo shoot by the docks and on the beach, plus the church ceremony and the reception after, have a loook on www.guido-ingrid.nl

There's also some great photo's by Esse on Facebook, where you can see some dinner and party pics. I looked very different in the evening, the make-up and hair people came round and I changed some bits of my outfit.

Kathy is also still edeiting some photo's which I'm sure are great, and Jon please tell me where I can find yours as am dying to see them?? Did you get my message. We really adored your present thanks so very much!!

We really have had a fairytale wedding. Everything went to plan, the weather was fantstic and all our guests had a great time too which is very important. I couldn't have been happier and thinkig back can only smile and cherish our special day and be grateful we can celebrate our love with so many we love, especially if they came from abroad.

We are very lucky to know so many special people, including those those who couldn't be there in person but where there spirit (including you off course Kat!), as friends become part of you in a way so you where there in our hearts if they couldn't make it in person. We sure are blessed to know so many wonderfull people, and when I looked around in at the party and realised we had about 125 of them with us we felt very lucky and loved!!

Loving cloud nine, it's a great place to be :-D

Clarification: you don't HAVE to have a church service off course. But we chose to as we wanted to not only commit by law, but also from our hearts.

It was a lovely ceremony and reception (at a 'beach' side venue). TWO days in fact - Ingrid and Guido took us on a canal boat trip on the Sunday - and we were soooo lucky to have a gorgeous sunny day for it... and then Angela and I went and tore it up in Amsterdam...!! ;)
Felt lucky to be a part of it Ingers xx
