Awesome in every way!
This event was the elephant's tusks! I'd been looking forward to this patiently for about 11 months. I first found out about it shortly after their first gig at this huge venue in April 2004.
I travelled on my own to Rotterdam(250 miles). And, when I got there, I was surprised to find out that a lot of the Dutch folk actually spoke good english. This was a bonus because I got to chat to a lot of people and befriended some cool clubbers for the night. Although, it was a shame that my digi cam broke the previous week. I'm not sure how many tickets were sold in total but, it seemed pretty full up(almost 10,000 people).

There were plenty of talented dj's rotating on the night including a percussionist. there was also a drum 'n' bass artist that performed her track half way through the night. My dj of the night award has to go to Joris Vorn. Plenty of unusual and interesting beats and flowing mixing technique, excellent! The quality was nothing less than what I had expected. The highlight of the night was when Michel de Hey played his techno set (at midnight Dutch time) and then dropped 'Galvanize' by Chem Bros(at 0% pitch) after a 'power off stop' on the decks, amazing! Who'd have thought that that could be pulled off! The whole crowd went wild at this point. Rounding off an amazing set. The dj that I was looking forward to hearing the most was Umek. He did a back-to-back with Valentino Kanzayani which rocked. I noticed cross beat/mixing error on the first two mixes but, they were dealt with swiftly and probably went unoticed amongst the rest of the crowd.

Everyone was so chilled and loving it. A lot of smiley faces were everywhere you looked. I saw one guy with U.V. shoes, underpants and glasses which looked pretty unusual but cool at the same time. As for the ladies, I was lost for words at various points of the night. The Dutch talent was very impressive. I'm sure that the guys weren't too bad either but, I'm not that way inclined! I tried to inform them all about DSI but, it remains to be seen as to whether or not any of them remember what I'd told them. The night was very well organised and I would highly recommend going to this next year. The DVD from 2004 is out now. Look out for the 2005 DVD out soon.

Im my opinion(and of friends too), Holland has always been the 2nd Ibiza. The only difference being the weather, and the fact that Holland isn't an island. But, as for dj talent, the Dutch have plenty of.
