Trance Energy - The event of a lifetime!
Trance Energy 2010!

Time once again for the most anticipated event on my clubbing calendar and almost certainly one of dance music lovers globally.

This years edition of Trance Energy fell perfectly on Easter weekend meaning that not only did many of us have to book time off work we also had extra time to reflect and recover from this years marathon.

So where do we start with this years event, fired up and ready to go from a better than last years 'before the energy' pre-party, Trance Energy 2010 looked to expand on my first experience last year by delivering an up to date line-up and one of a kind attractions.

Demonstrating the sheer size of the venue it was a poor decision for me to go the wrong way around the convention centre in the pouring rain, but building the anticipation of what was to come was sure way to forget this quickly.

Greeted by an incredibly helpful team of Staff it was Elise that from ID&T that deserves the first special mention, having arranged for us to receive a backstage tour is unheard of in the UK and in many cases were lucky to even get in the event on time. Arriving before the party began allowed me to appreciate the incredible production value of the 4 arenas, this year ID&T had gone into overdrive and exceeded expectations from last years introduction to the event.

To make our night as hassle free as possible Anna introduced Barry and I to the stage managers and gave a brief overview of the do's and dont's most importantly DO have fun. A quick stop at the bar for a vodka and redbull and the event is underway. Backstage passes were not arranged prior to the event, and for ID&T to provide them was incredibly trusting and very professional, the lengths Anna and Elise seemed to go to for us made us feel incredibly welcomed and far exceeded expectations - this is a rare thing in clubland.

Moving onto the music it was down to Nick Chigall to get things going and for me this was a great start, a perfect blend of uplifting and energetic trance which would welcome the thousands of clubbers from over 16 nationalities arriving through the many security gates as hassle free as possible.

Non-stop from this point on Trance Energy flowed like a proper trance set should, building up to unbearable levels of excitement before releasing levels of euphoria only this incredible sound can produce.

Making full use of the afore mentioned pass I toured the 4 arenas to secure those shots id only dreamed of getting before arriving.

When it comes to sound production there's nothing I hate more than having my ear drums blasted to hell and back, but for me the sound quality this year was far better than any other event id been too, loud enough to be enjoyable and so clear and precise, imagine surround sound for the Trance generation, this I felt was worth a special mention as clearly a lot of time and money had gone into producing the final effect.

Clubbers? a fine example of eclectic individuals, polite and happy, I think I was asked if they could pass through the crowd more often than pushed, and do you really need to ask if you can light up and smoke in Holland? No, but I thank the 4 or 5 people who did ask if I minded them smoking while I was dancing away.

The headline acts kept me in the main room for most of the night and the visual production was on another level, how long it must take to set things up for one night I don’t know, but every effort seems to have been taken to ensure the spectators are left breathless.

Not to miss the finer details of a great event, Trance Energy clubbers want for nothing once they have arrived, toilets conveniently placed and abundant, food stalls, merchandise, and the highly effective token drinks procedure ensuring minimal waiting time at the bar.

I came with a small number of friends this year but left with a few more. I partied at the best event of the year (and don’t worry ID&T it’ll take a lot to beat you) with a trance family and was witness to something visually and aurally inspiring. I couldn’t fault Trance Energy or the professionalism demonstrated by every single member of staff from security to bar staff. Having been twice there is no doubt in my mind that TE will be a permanent fixture for years to come, I left not wanting the event to close.
