EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH THE UE TEAM
After such a amazing start for underground exhilaration which has only been running for a few months and already they have made a huge start not only with hitting there peak for listeners both on and off the chat but also with their brand new website offering a lot more to both the dj’s and the listeners so I thought it be about time to interview them and see just how pleased they are with there success

Hey girls well U.E not been running for long but what a major impact your having from listeners and dj’s how has that made you feel?

Jan: In a word....awesome! In more than one word ... we are really appreciative and respectful of all our DJ's and members who have joined U.E and supported us (especially when times have been difficult) none of this would happen without you guys...we love you all :)
Maz: U.E has had a very successful response in regards to the support we have received from our listeners and our DJ's, I am pleased to say that it's doing really well overall. When U.E was first created I never thought that our radio station would have such a positive outcome. I think listeners and DJ's really appreciate the wide styles of underground genres we incorporate into the site. All my appreciation goes out to each and every listener and DJ who are a part of U.E and
they are the ones who make U.E what it is today!

How did UE come about what made you decided to start it up?

Jan: I will leave that one to Maz as she's the Boss Lady and it was all her idea, I just stepped in when the going got tough for Maz as she was left on her own to run the site, and she needed some support...bigups Maz you star :)
Maz: I first decided to start U.E online radio as I was learning to DJ at the time. I met many other DJ's through the love of spinning Hardcore vinyl on a free site called Stickam. It was about 7 months into my DJ'ing when I formed a group on Stickam
of DJ friends and we all decided it would be a good idea to create a U.E Stickam account. We used that for a while until I decided we needed something more professional for the stream, with no bufferage ..listener numbers were good in Stickam.
I had already had a lot to do with promotions, and holding my own rave night called Future Exhilaration, so I put half of the name forward to be used as radio, I was assigned as Boss in the group because of my promotional experience. I have always
had a love for hardcore, but I believe Hardcore would not be here if it wasn’t for other styles of music evolving. Big thank you’s to Jan for supporting us from day 1, you're wicked ! ;)

What sort of things does UE offer both the dj’s and listeners?

Jan: Hopefully a friendly, family atmosphere and a wicked vibe; awesome tunes (and a variety of styles at that). We want our members to feel at home, and want them to come back time and time again..its not just about the tunes its about the P.L.U.R. (Peace, Love, Unity and Respect; for those who don't know what I am talking about)
Maz: As Jan says, we hope to provide a place where people can come and chill out, with a friendly atmosphere and wicked underground music styles. U.E is a place to chat to like-minded, positive people who are interested in similar styles of music.
When we are not raving we need some where to connect, and this is the place to feel at home with your raving friends and family. I'm quite confident to say I think that there is some thing to suit everyone on U.E

Have you got any plans for the future if so what are they?

Jan: To be honest I would like to see a regular UE event :) There’s the scope for it, as
we would be offering the oldskool P.L.U.R. that so badly missing from the rave scene at the mo. But its not something that comes cheap, and we would need to be sure that we would have enough heads through the door of each event. It's not about profit making but of course no-one can afford to lose money either. I have no doubt we could have plenty of DJ's would want to play, and some have already said they would play for free initially, which all helps. But we need to establish the site and get more members signed up before we can even go the event route.
Maz: I would like to offer events in the near future to the U.E crew, I am seeking to make this in conjunction with a charity called the Echo Heart Foundation at Evelina Children’s Hospital at Guy's and St Thomas's in Westminster. This is to raise money for children born with minor to major heart conditions. All regular U.E DJ's will have the first option to play at U.E events.

You also dj on the site how long have you been djing what made you get into it and do you enjoy it?

Jan: I have only been DJ'ing for about 8 months and got into it by accident really. We bought a set of cheap cdjs n mixer for our daughter on her 12th birthday but she decided it was too hard, so I jumped on um and had a go. It wasn’t until after I had been to Black 2008 in Amsterdam because I love hardstyle so much that I decided I had to have a go at mixing it. I have tried other genres too, such as Hardcore, DnB, Funky House/Funky RnB and lately Trance, but I don't get a chance to practice often so I am trying to stick to one genre so I can perfect my mixing. when I play on UE its pretty much touch and go whether the set is going to listenable or not lol. But there’s nothing better than having a phatt baseline banging in you ears...I think I might be going deaf, pardon??
Maz: I have been DJ'ing a few months over a year, I got into DJ'ing as I have so many connections with the hardcore scene! A DJ friend suggested to me that I should try DJ'ing. I was raving on a regular basis at the time and was very much into the tunes. I would say this really helped me to learn the concepts of spinning Hardcore on decks. I loved listening to Hardcore so I wanted to take the next step of spinning it and feeling the music. I would like to move on to play other genres of music, as I only spin Upfront Hardcore and a little Freeform right now. The other genres I'm interested in playing are Hardcore Breaks, Oldskool, House and Jungle. Spinning hardcore on decks has given me a feel for music on another level entirely.
