Bit harsh for two breakdowns in the sound.

It was my first night down the Arches, and both me and Lizard absolutely loved it. Herve's laptop crashing was a bit on a downer, but Tittsworth's set more than made up for it.

As for the atmosphere in room 2, I felt the sound system did let it down slightly, but when Tomb Crew dropped Boo! as their last tune the whole place was still jumping.

Didn't have to queue for more than 5mins for a drink at the bar all night, and didn't once have to queue for the toilets.

Sounds to me like this guy got a bug up his ass from the start after not being on the gueslist. Fucking journos.....

Twat!!! i agree with WUB in what he says, I've been in this industry for years and the problem all started with the line mixup. if CTF had gotten that right all the other mistakes would not have looked too bad. the guy just wanted to feel like a VIP infront of his mrs, you screw that up you screw his night up.
CTF dont worry about it i havent been dissapointed at any of your gigs and any publicity is good publicity.

ouch .... shame his blog isnt as busy as our nights ;-) You gotta love it though the fact that he kicked up so much agro on the door because his name wasnt on the list, when you have a massive queue and a massive guestlist its always hard to manage as the guestlist people are put under so much pressure... I dont know who the hell he is and if it was that bad why he didnt just leave, he got in for for free or did he not want to leave as couldnt understand why he was the only person out of 1200 people not enjoying himself ;-)

of course there are teething problems with any new venue especially with 1200 peeps. I cant help an artists lap top or how many people need the toilets, being formally a gay club there are a few more gents toilets than ladies unfortunately... But the We Fear Silence Team and myself will be doing our upmost to make it an even better experience on the 24th April ;-) thanks to evey one who came and check out the videos and pictures here thefatclub.com

yep sure is, didnt you see all the guys working the bar, i thought it was hilarious ..

what a twat, good job he wasnt on the guestlist. I bet he hated dropping some names to the bouncers "dont you know who I am" "No sorry mate we dont". Shame he missed storming sets from A1 Bassline, Foamo & Jesse Tittsworth. Toilets I used were fine and I never really queued at the bar. I personally will see everyone on 24th April and hopefully not this clown.

This is what really happened. Mayhem! Hope you can all make our next event on April 24th.

Ha, mate. If only your blog was as busy as our nights! Dont have anyone called Alex Walters on our pres contacts list so not sure why you thought you'd get in free - we want people to come down and enjoy the music, and while we appreciate your honest we think this is a bit harsh. The two sound glitches were annoying, but what do you expect from live technical equipment? As for your problems with the venue - for someone who claims to love gritty venues, why would you be bothered by some piss on the floor?
The next night is 24th April, same venue, same time. Come down, as a paying guest, and see what it's all about. Peace.

Ultimately, writers don't write to be liked. Look at AA Gill, Giles Coren or Jeremy Clarkson, all incredibly popular columnists, all bemoaned and reviled in equal measure. We write to amuse, to provoke and to entertain. We also write to inform, to educate, and to incite debate. We don't care if we sound like prats, it's about creating debate and reaction and challenging opinions. Would you read a review that simply said "Pretty average, music cut out once or twice, club wasn't in great shape. Shame."?

I will confess on this occasion to a bit of hyperbole. Yet the facts remain that, in my opinion, it was a weak night. That is all it is: an opinion. I'm a Chew the Fat regular. I've been with you at Space, at the End, and now at the Arches. Chew the Fat has given me some of the best nights of my life, and this was the first weak one, which is why it was all the more of a surprise. I'm going to be there on the 24th. I will review it, and I'm 99% certain that it's going to be a stormer, because CTF don't often make mistakes.

So take a bit of a ribbing with a pinch of salt, I made it clear that the night was an exception to the rule. It's an opinion column, nothing more, and plenty of people disagree with my verdict. That's the beauty of these things, isn't it?
