In celebration of the cult of the Shejay, The Ruby Lounge's most reputed monthly clubnight brings you The Carry On Girls.

For so long breakbeat and indeed many other genres have been largely male dominated. well, we at the Carry On institute of gender equality believe it's about time we we showed you that these chicks with discs can rock it out just as much as their male counterparts. So we have put together a fantastic line-up of female dj's for your aural pleasure to prove that when it comes to female dj's it's all about style and class not tits and ass.

Sets at Herbal, Urban Nights and Lockside Lounge in London, Ambush in Nottingham, Future Funk in Sheffield, Gobbstopper in Taunton and Spectrum in Leicester have made her a name to watch out for!

Add to that her regular appearances at the night she helps run and promote, the Breakspoll award-nominated Boomslang in Cambridge (supporting artists such as Stanton Warriors, Atomic Hooligan, Tayo, Slyde, Soul of Man, Scratch Perverts, NAPT and many more) and you have a rising star in the breakbeat scene.

When she’s not rocking the dancefloor, That Girl DJ hosts the Boomslang Breaks show on NSB Radio, the worlds biggest breaks radio station, playing a fortnightly two-hour selection of her own flavour of breaks, electro and twisted house.

Mini (152cm)- is a Breakbeat DJ with deep passion for bassline, who is not scared to mix it up with all kinds of funky shit.

Originally from Czech Republic with Russian blood, Mini Da Minx has spent since 2002 4 years in Cape Town, South Africa, pushing breaks and underground music on the South African dance scene, Playing alongside heavyweight industry names as Freq Nasty, DJ Vadim and Pascal.

In a recent move to Europe... she's became fully involved in the London scene, as well as guesting on various NSB Radio shows and reaching the finals in the prestigeous D-joust - DJ competition, in January she was invited to host with CHIX IN DA 'MIX VIP room @THE GALLERY in TURNMILLS, playing with HYBRID, NICK WARREN and MUTINY. she has also played sets with Dopamine, Atomic Hooligan, Chris Carter and many many more..... Miss STEPH HIGGINS aka Fanny!

Steph started her dj'ing career 8yrs ago, firstly playing house music, her first gig being Hot Water Music many moons ago. Her love of breaks came about when she listened to Adam Freelands - Tectonics. Since then Steph has been bang into the breaks, influenced by Freeland her sets are deep, techy and grooving. An ideal warm-up for the feminine funk that will follow!
