Although saying that - If you didn't hear the old school sets by Micky Finn, Kenny Ken, Hyper On Experience, JMJ, Billy Whizz, Dominate, Harmonee and others (not to mention the two live old school PA's) then you must have been unfortunate enough to be in the wrong places at all the wrong times.

Yes I did enjoy what I caught of some of these, and others . It was when things were played which were not heard of back then that miffed me.

They had to cater for a wide range of people new and old

Fair comment but they should be taught the same way I was!

Although it seems you are in the minority.

Maybe , maybe not. Spoke to a few guys and girls along the night some of which older than myself so am guessing they prob went to a few more nights than I did, saying similar things to my thoughts.
But hey we are all entitled to an opinion.......just thought I would share mine.

I hear alex is organising the next one on the moon ;)

Fab! I've always wanted the moon on a stick .... (",)

I expected more of the old school tunes.

Yep, I know what you mean outrageous, Totem really did hit the nail on the head though. we've always prefered to let the DJ's express themselves in the way they wanted to (we find that way they are more likely to play to the crowd).

As you can imagine outrageous, its always very difficult to create an event which is all things to all people (especially when the crowd you are trying to be 'all things' for is in excess of 2000 people).

The fact that we would be catering for almost 20 years worth of different musical tastes in this one event weighed very heavily on our minds when putting together the line up for this event. As you can imagine it was a very very fine line we had to walk.

In the end we decided that the best thing would be for us to just do what we do best! One almighty celebration of progressive dance music in all its glory.. We provide the right environment, the crowd provides the atmosphere and the acts provide the best dam music they know how.. yep, to sound like a broken record the objective as always was to provide A HEART MIND AND GUT GRIPPING AUDIO VISUAL EXPERIENCE and I'd say that objective was met.

As far as going with an old school, new school or even middle school flavour, well thats never been what Dance Paradise was about (lets face it, its not called 'old school paradise' is it?).

Traditionally Dance Paradise was always about showcasing the best of what progressive dance music had to offer at that time, and with that in mind this particular event was a distinct break from the norm.

However, as you say, it was billed as 'The Reunion' so it would of been completely wrong to turn our backs on where we had all come from. But by the same token, we expected that alot of people who where not old enough to experience a full on Dance Paradise event back in the day would want to come if only to see what all the fuss was about (and we were not disapointed!).

So while we were catering for the old crowd we also had to cater for the new crowd, who, while I agree, would benefit from a bit of an education in where the whole scene came from, certainly would not have enjoyed a night exclusively made up of 10+ year old music (for example, if you had come and the entire night was pure '88 Acid House & Balearic Beats or Jazz Funk from '84 you probably would'nt want to hang around that long, and if you take 10 years off your maturity level you'd of been pretty dam vocal in expressing the 'what the fook is all the fuss about' sentiments!).

As I said earlier, when organising an event of that size and nature, you walk a very fine line. On the whole I think we got it as close to right as we possibly could for the overall crowd and atmosphere. I won't pretend that I'm not bothered that you didn't have as good a night as you maybe could of, I'll be honest and say it bothers me alot. To be brutally frank we could have 9999 extatic guests, but the one which would concern me was the 1 who didn't enjoy it!

Sadly, I can't really say 'we'll make it up to you with the next one' as I can't really guarantee that there will ever be another Dance Paradise. Although by the same token we must never say never :)

We'll see mate, as I said 'Never say Never' :)

IF NOT SELL THE NAME TO DANNY SO HE CAN CONTINUE THE LEGEND

Dance Paradise will never be sold to anyone for any amount (or to put it a little less politely - OVER MY DEAD BODY LOL!). The money has never been an issue with me, my only concern regarding DP is that it remains a legend, with that in mind I will only ever let a DP take place if I believe it will be utterly amazing - as I've said many times before, given the choice between risking the reputation and simply leaving it a legend, I'll leave it a legend every time (in short if there is the slightest chance that the event will be anything less than legendary then I won't let it happen, if I sell the name I would no longer be able to stop it and my fear would be that eventually it would be run into the ground like so many other legandary events).

Regarding letting someone else loose with the name (even Danny) that will never (I place alot of emphasis on the word NEVER here as it means just that NEVER) happen. While I have the utmost respect for Danny (I genuinely feel he is one of the finest promoters I've ever met) there are still fundemental differences between the way he and I organise events (not least that his tend to make money lol!). Now, while his input on this event was invaluable (and I must say it would be an absolute pleasure to work with him again) and because of the differences in style the colaboration makes for a very interesting event I believe that a Dance Paradise without me would be like a Pams House with out Danny (put simply, the event just wouldn't be right and you the public would notice!).

There is however a silver lining to that particular cloud though.. As long as you see me involved in an event under the Dance Paradise banner, you can be guaranteed that it will be one of the most incredible experiences you are ever likely to have (by the same token, if you don't see me involved you'll also know its a fake) :)

DON'T MISINTERPRET THIS POST! I'M NOT SAYING I'LL NEVER DO ANOTHER ONE...
I'M JUST SAYING IF I DO IT WILL BE PRETTY BLOODY SPECIAL ! :)

My sentiments exectly vamps :)

If we do another reunion, it'll be quite a while coming.. if we do anything sooner it will be completely different and 100 times more spectacular!
