10 things you should know about……Kirsty Lee James

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi, I’m Kirsty Lee James, I’m 24 and live in Birmingham. I’ve been on the Hard Dance scene for about 7 years now and have loved every minute of it. I’ve been djing for about 4 years which has been amazing and things are really starting to take off for me at the moment which is great. I’m out most weekends either playing out or partying hard after all I was a clubber before I started mixing and I don’t want to ever lose that.

What can we expect to hear from you on November 14th and what’s on your free mix?

Well I haven’t completely decided on what I’m playing at Xstatic just yet but as this is a big set for me I will be planning something very special indeed and the tunes will definitely be keeping you on the dancefloor. My new mix is full of tunes I’m loving at the moment with tracks from some of my favourite producers Ilogik, Glazby, Defective Audio. There are also a few tracks on there by Valex who is indeed a popular favourite of mine as his production never fails to impress me.

Who else are you looking forward to hearing?

I am looking forward to seeing Farley of course as always and also Nik Denton as I really enjoy the chunky hardhouse he plays. The whole line up is awesome actually so really want to hear as many sets as I can, including up and coming Dj Disco Pete who I have seen play out recently and really enjoyed and another two of my favourites JP & Jukesy who never fail to please the dancefloor.

What’s been your favorite Xstatic’s & Deprivation event?

To be honest I have enjoyed everyone I have been to so far so would be hard to choose my favourite, but the birthday one back in August was definitely a fantastic one as a lot of my good friends were there and it was great to see one of my favourite dj’s and true legend Karim playing.

Things at the custard factory have been a big hit with hard house, Trance & House gelling together really nicely, why do you think this is?

The custard factory is an amazing venue, probably my favourite venue in Brum actually. I feel that having the different styles of music fitted nicely into the different rooms works so well because there is a bit of something for everyone so it will attract more people to the night.

What other genres of music do you listen to?

I am very open minded to music actually and listen to a lot of different styles, I’m really into Drum & Bass, Bassline and more recently I have got into Techno and Fidget House.

What’s your favourite tune of all time?

This question is always a tough one as there are so many tunes that have good memories for me and that I love so much. Tony De Vit I Don’t Care has to be an all time classic for me though and another one of my favourites is Paul Maddox Have Faith, what a toooooooooooon.

If you were an animal what type of animal would you be and why?

After going to the Safari Park recently and feeding them I think I’d have to say I would definitely be a giraffe. They are just so cute and just think of how far ahead you can see being that tall. A great advantage I’d say.

England to win the world cup in 2010 or not?

Well I sure hope they do, the world cup is the only time I ever support and watch football so it would be nice to see England win. Always a good excuse for a pub visit to and nothing beats a bit of football chanting.

Tell us about the most embarrassing thing you’ve done?

No way man that would be telling......... better to keep them a secret I’d say lol. Im sure a lot of people who know me know my most embarrassing moments already.

10 things you should know about……Tom Green

Tell us a bit about yourself?

Well what is there to say…I’m 24, I was born in Sutton Coldfield – B’ham, I work for a Sign Company in B’ham as an account handler / project manager. I live in Nuneaton (suppose someone has to!) I’ve been Dj’ing for about 3 ½ years now but have been into the scene since a very early age! I have not long finished my debut tracks which are currently being sent to record labels. I am a mad shopper (bit of a girl other people insist) and I love Italian food!

What can we expect to hear from you on November 14th and what’s on your free mix?

November is going to be a new thing for me, I think that for me to work in this room I will need to have a few things up my sleeve…which I do, so expect the un-expected ;)

On my mix is a lot of the best productions around at the minute and a few older ones in my opinion including the likes of Gareth Emery, Be:Gold, John O’Callaghan and Dogzilla giving a nice build throughout the demo. It also includes my debut tracks before they were mastered.

Who else are you looking forward to hearing?

I must say I am very much looking forward to hearing Jimmy and Ash b2b, I think this pair will make a good couple ? I love the energy Ash puts into his sets! Also Gio, Danny Powers, Stu J and Mr Farley.

Whats been your favourite Xstatic & Deprivation event?

The 4th birthday was definitely the best one I have been to so far! Everyone was so up for it and the Trance room being outside made a massive impact!
I’m looking forward to more events like that one!

Things at the custard factory have been a big hit with Hardhouse, Trance & House gelling together really nicely, why do you think this is?

I think that fact that it’s dead in the centre of the countries number two city helps a lot, people know where it is, also having the varied music across the place makes it open to a wider variety of clubber. It pleases everyone! And invites people to try something different while they’re there.

What other genres of music do you listen to?

I do listen to most genres of dance music with minimal techno and tech house being my favourite. I’m well into the likes of Eric Prydz, Chris Lake, Spektra and Carl Cox.
I don’t usually listen to anything other than dance music as this is pretty much all I’ve had my whole life…not a bad thing in my opinion ?

Whats you favourite tune of all time?

Massive question…I don’t think I could ever pick one as there are so many amazing tunes out there but the first that comes to mind is Sasha – Expander. Memorys pore back from this!

If you were an animal what type of animal would you be and why?

A Meerkat – They are so cool! And they have to be the centre of attention…

England to win the world cup in 2010 or not?

Not really a football man anymore, but saying that I do hope they they get far and they are in with a chance but I doubt they will no.

Tell us about the most embarrassing thing you’ve done?

The one that comes to mind is when I was about 7 years old, I went into school and told everyone it was my birthday when it wasn’t. I got spoiled by everyone, they went out and bought me a cake and we had a little party…the teachers then realized the next day that it wasn’t and they made me stand up in front of the whole school and apologies.
I ended up getting really embarrassed and ran off!
