It has been four years since Slinky has toured Australia and a lot has happened within that time. New owners took the helm in 2007 and since then the brand has not looked back. Slinky has returned to it’s rightful and spiritual home The Opera House in Bournemouth, England and has gone on to hold over 45 tours and events in every continent during 2008 with the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Eddie Halliwell, Judge Jules, Lisa Lashes all performing on a regular basis. It has gone onto launch it’s own internet radio station www.slinky.fm and returns to the compilation market, with its Slinky Presents Global Trance Series.

This Slinky Classics compilation is the next step towards global domination for Slinky. Many classics albums have been and gone but Slinky have delivered an album that true followers can identify with.

Compiled by Slinky Residents Lee Haslam & Dav Gomrass and Mixed by Lee himself, this album is packed full with true Slinky classics. Our Emphasis has been on delivering an album for the true fan and not just on delivering a “Trance Greatest Hits” compilation. We have specifically chosen productions that have a history with the brand and have been instrumental in the growth of Slinky on the global scale making it a true representation of the brand and what it stands for.

The album opens with Laurent Garnier “The Man With The Red Face”, a track seldom seen on any classic albums but a track which is arguably Slinky’s biggest and the one that holds the biggest story. Slinky fans will know that Laurent was in fact the act that Slinky booked for its very first show back on Friday May 2nd1997, making this track synonymous with Slinky from that point on. Other poignant tracks on the compilation like Southside Spinners “Luvstruck”, Tukan “Light A Rainbow”, Atlantis “Fiji”, Red Light District “Did You Hear Me?”, The Space Brothers “Forgiven”, Timo Mass “Der Schrieber” & Joshua Ryan “Pistolwhip” all feature along side recognised Slinky anthems like Binary Finary “1998”, Push “Universal Nation”, Delirium “Silence” & Energy 52’s “Café Del Mar” as testament to an amazing lifespan for Slinky.

Of course, to this day, Slinky constantly pushes new music and new talent but after celebrating it’s 12th birthday this year as one of the planets leading club brands, we felt this was the right time to do such a compilation and to the global market place.

Slinky Forever!!

Not many producers can boast about having sold 40,000 copies of their first release in the UK alone, nor about it topping the UK dance charts or having it appear on 15 compilation albums worldwide, but one who can is 2004 Brit Award nominee for Best British Breakthrough artist: Lee Haslam

The 51st State sampling ‘Music Is The Drug’ became one of the UK’s biggest hard trance anthems leading to plays on Radio 1 and Galaxy FM catapulting it’s producer to greater heights.

That was then and this is now. Today Lee Haslam’s sound has seen a considerable change. He has rapidly become one of the UK’s most prolific trance producers, releasing over twenty productions and remixing the original masterpieces of Dumonde, Lost Tribe, R.O.O.S., Sean Tyas and Out Of Office to name just a few. His original work has also received critical acclaim, with his biggest hit to date being “Punch Drunk”, a track which was released on his own label Digital Remedy and was played by Judge Jules On Radio One a staggering 8 times, with Jules proclaiming it to be his favourite track of 2008 on air! This was backed up with the track reaching the number one spot on the likes of Beatport, iTunes & Trackitdown.net.

Exposed to millions globally courtesy of a coveted Radio 1 Essential Mix in 2004, this led to an influx of enquiries from promoters in the UK and overseas wanting to book the British DJ with the vibrant, uplifting and energetic trance style.

His diary this year alone has seen him travel to Russia, South Africa, Canada, Singapore, China, New Zealand, Norway, Spain and The Lebanon to name just a few. Add to that his involvement in Slinky both as head of music and events and global resident, the multitude of UK clubs he frequents, his monthly Slinky radio show on Paul Van Dyk's VONYC Network on tilllate.com, and the recently released Slinky Global Trance compilation album, its evident Lee is one of the UK’s most in demand trance DJs.

His pure dedication and total passion for the music he loves to make and play out has earned him plenty of respect and carved him a first-class reputation within the music industry.

2008 has been a phenomenal year and 2009 is destined to be even better.

When you book Lee Haslam you are booking more than just a DJ… you are booking a trance legend in the making.

Slinky interview Marco V in advance of the Halloween Ball

If you were to define the term ‘dance music purist’, you’d take into consideration a number of factors... knowledge, passion and substance. Combine them together and you get Marco V. Entrenched in the scene from an early age, it was clear right from the start which path Marco would take... and October 31 sees him take to the Slinky decks at our Halloween Ball!
