ive been a dj for 14 years , i have worked in all the major venues around the south coast and have djs with amazing headline djs , and im telling you kate lawler is a novelty dj !!

Ive seen Kate play a few times, she started off a bit shakey but improved, she has been into the scene for a long time and from what i gather, has had a passion for dj'ing for some time, just never got the break to do it.

She has a pretty unique set and she doesnt fluff her mixes, ok she is no turntablist but she gets the crowds going. she plays at some quite well know nights.

What have you done then mr DVDA, Ive been on the scene 14 yrs now blah blah blah?

She doesnt even play the style of music that all the anti-kate brigade are into ffs.

Your blatently jealous because she is now well known for her dj'ing and your, well doing fairgrounds for 14 yr olds on the south coast.

for fucks sake why do i have to go into what ive done , plus it really shows you know fuck all about music claiming that uk garage is for fairgrounds !!! amazing djs have come from that scene such as

matt jam lamont
mj cole
ez
to name a few , all these djs incorperate proper house music into there sets as i do when i play out ,

why am i blatently jealous i play the same sort of music as her for my radio show but i can actually dj i know im a ten times better dj than her and at least ive put the time and effort to get gigs , i didnt do the easy route , by becoming a media whore and then getting dj work off of that , other acts that have doen the same - paris hilton, nicky from big brother , peaches geldof , alll just fucking shit in my opinion !!
but i suppose to you shes a good dj as you really dont have a fucking clue about proper djs as your into shit acts like this !!
my point originally is that for the same money you could book acts that would pull the same amount of people plus they woulds have much better skills than her !!

I wasn't the biggest fan of Kate when she came out but she has been praised by some top DJs. I can't really comment on her live as I haven't seen her but have heard some recorded sets but fair play to her...

She's doing what she wants to do, and a dj isn't just about playing tunes, its about entertaining the crowd- which from what I hear she does very well.

What I will comment on is that I really like her production! She's done a crackin remix of It's Love which is on her myspace page.

You've never seen her play out, or the show she puts on, you're making a judgment on one mix CD which could have been put out when she just started DJing. The mixes I have heard from her lately, her music style has evolved and technically she's much better. Privilege in Ibiza wouldn't give her a set if she was shit, and she's resident at Sanky's which is certainly saying something.

Really you shouldn't start debates on things you don't have a full understanding off.

Now you are being stupid, Privelage will never ever have to get someone in just for the name, its every night they put on is packed out. Privelage pull in punters just for the fact that they are privelage, maybe you should give Aya Nappa a miss one yr and try ibiza for yourself.

No I said you can't comment on someones mixing ability through listening to one CD.

I've heard some of the best DJs in the world play a bad set - Steve Lawler at Global Gathering 07 for example, it doesn't make him a bad DJ- he just played a bad set.

If shes a resident in one of the UK's largest clubs then yes, that does make her a good DJ! Clubs like Sankys pull in people every week regardless of who's playing...

For a promoter and being in the business for "14 years", you are rather clueless to think its just about numbers in these clubs, its about the DJ and their style and the image it will have on the club.

Kate is a well respected DJ in the entertainment industry with both clubbers, promoters and fellow DJs. She's played alongside some of the best. Most people have moved on from BB.... you should too.
