New Podcast Server For 2009

Anyway you may or may not know about this but we now have our own Podcast server. This will upload all future mixes to, all future radio shows and means you can also grab everything through the iTunes store.

To access it via the iTunes store simply search for Elev8Records.

Or if you don't have iTunes, simple visit our website: elev8records.com

Here you can listen as well as download all our content....

iTunes Users

As we are new to iTunes we don't yet have any reviews, please feel free to leave us some comment as it will really help our presence on iTunes and make all my hours of uploading, recording and mixing feel worth it. We will greatly appreciate your efforts.

Cheers

Tim,

I wouldn't underestimate how many people use the site as a listings guide and never actually make an account.

Yeah completely agree, it's my first port of call for nights out, don't do much commenting on it nowadays though....it's all about Facebook innit!!

attract new spotters and the ravers will come back with them! thats how i found here. I love the site, im starting to get back into my photography and although i put my pic's up on both, i plan to put them here first to encourage people back. i like to help what's worthwhile... i better put in orders for more cards. lets talk up this site once again peeps!

Agreed UL! We are all trying to analyse what has happened, when perhaps the main problem is turnover. There used to be a huge number of loyal regular users. Lots of them have moved on, its natural. Perhaps it really is as simple as getting back to basics. DSI needs to concentrate on getting its spotters out there and talking the site up once more…?

but i still love this site

me tooo!!

...........................

this is not a pop at anyone.... BUT when was the last time locally ya see anyoe handing out a DSI card....??? i think this has a lot to do with it...

no DSI spotter cards = no new members signing up on DSI to see pics at your nights!!!

also ya have to bear in mind the current climate with credit crunch and the cost to have pro-spotters at events!!! most photographers want payin, which i dont mind BUT when prices are more than wot some of the DJ's get paid its a hard one to warrant paying especially bearin in mind the credit crunch, soo many local nights cutting back on event expenses or even shuttin up shop!!! pro-spotters are worth every penny if ya ask me but it has become very clicky, certain peeps will only cover certain events and then ya have to bear in mind peeps jumpin on a payin photoraphers band wagon, normal spotters tryin to dictate and tell you they want drinks, guest lists and wages, soo many are on the blag (if ya dont ask ya dont get), with hardly anyone handing out cards its not like it was 2-3 years ago when everyone was doing it for fun and not tryin to make a buck or two out of it, if everyone starts handing out DSI cards again i am sure the numbers would start to rise significantly

also with DSI there seems to be a HUUUGE increase in new nights which is good for a diverse scene dont get me wrong BUT in my opinion is floggin a dead horse at this current moment in time, every tom dick and harry think they can promote nower days, for me it seems to of split the crowds across numerous nights long with the politics peeps cant be seen to be supporting said event, OK ya still have the main players doing OK but not with the crowds they used to and there seems to be quiet a bit of back stabbing, underhand actions and not to mention the odd fake user profile popping up!!!

i personally think peeps need to pull together and start headin in the right directions rather than the politics and crap that goes on that distracts peeps away from the nights and ultimately the Music and to be fair soo many dont wanna get involved in the petty politics or take sides let alone be associated with the hassle!!! there certainly seems to be a rise in peeps NOT expressing there opinions which we are all entitled to BUT actively tryin to cause damage to the promotions!!!

just a few thoughts and not a personal dig at anyone!!!

That's a very good point! I wonder if anyone would care to guess at the figure lost to British industry thanks to his yellow site haha!!

I know of quite a few people who got the boot / sever warning for using the yellow pages during working hours.

Hyper Viper - I'm 99.99% sure this thread is being watched.

Toast - DSI card, I have a feeling they are working on a new card for release very soon, I'm sure if your ask they will dish you a load out in the post.

Politics, your never going to get away from it we are now a country of people who complain about more things than ever before, we don't actually tend to do much about it.

FLB: I agree 100%

I don't know how you're supposed to know how many aren't watching, cos they're not gonna log in, and delete their inbox if they don't go on here anymore!

Facebook seems to be a better site for promoting events now, even tho it isn't a clubbers site.

Maybe Dontstayfaced is the answer...?

DSI is much better for discussions though. You can't add people to a message after you've posted in on Facebook. You can post pics of vids in Facebook discussions. If you write on a group wall and someone replies you don't know about it until you go and look again yourself.

Facebook is great for one on one discussions or having a little chat with your mate. For larger scale discussion DSI is king. Facebook is a pain in the arse for promoting. I did a mix a while back and i posted the link on the walls of 4 or 5 different groups, all relevant, but they blocked my account for a couple of days when i did nothing out of order.

Facebook isn't for meeting new people either. Facebook is a social utility (for keeping up to date with current and old friends), DSI or Myspace is a social networking tool (making new friends and reaching new people)

They don't want people to use it as a promotional tool and i can sort of understand why they're a pain in the arse but that's where the majority of the people currently are so needs must

understand that fully, as they wanna make money out ya for advertising space, the 1st time they said start a group/artist page and do wot ya have to from there, then they lock ya out for adding buddies to those legit groups, no consitancy on there, bit like yaself gettin locked out

ahhh the joys lol

Facebook is shit at event handling, if you've got more then 10 mates it spazes out. It can't cope with msg's to groups of above 10 and as XI pointed out you can't add to a msg once you've sent it... or edit it or do anything with it really.

I think if DSI added the personal msg function added some inbox spring cleaning tools as well as banning anyone who pastes the same thing 12 times in 12 different groups and invites all there same mates 12 times. As well as have a general clear-out could make big dif.

Some very good points here guys!!!

I can't be doing with logging out and back in on my Andy-DSI account but can confirm the following:-

- The site revamp is well underway! Really well underway but obviously bug fixing/tweaking takes a while.

-Spotter cards, a new load have just been sent out, and you've seen the ideas for new ones. The next thing is trying to get the spotters to do their job properly and hand them out. It annoys the shit out of me when I arrange GL with events for them and they then don't reciprocate by doing their bit. And I will and do simply refuse to arrange GL for them again if they don't keep up their side of the bargain.

- "Delete All" button and personal message inbox is something I believe is underway too as part of the revamp.

As one of my good industry contacts said the other day, Facebook is all good for getting a load of names on your event page, but a lot say yes as they feel they should be "supporting" an old school mate from 15 years ago etc, even when they know they are never going to be there. Plus of course, do you want just a "who's going" list or interesting content such as interviews with the DJs etc to raise your brand's profile. DSI has the upper hand on this.

Just to put my two penneth in:

DSI is THE place to find out about events, share knowledge, download mixes but the friends I used to have dialogue with, ie the guys that I used to go out with each week, get photos taken and then comment etc the following monday have all kind of moved away from the scene. Sure theres a few here and there but I remember logging on every day and there being untold threads, comments on pictures and actual attendance figures you could rely on!

The music is still the same, just the people I used to enjoy it with aren't. A relaunch and a big awareness campaign will then probably bring in a new generation of people.

As for Facebook, its just a way for dance music promoters to reach out to the average punter, probably 60% of the crowd, you get in the clubs each and every weekend.

As Tim says if they can clean up a few things then Im in a position to sell this website to people rather than not which is how I feel now!!
