New Podcast Server For 2009

Anyway you may or may not know about this but we now have our own Podcast server. This will upload all future mixes to, all future radio shows and means you can also grab everything through the iTunes store.

To access it via the iTunes store simply search for Elev8Records.

Or if you don't have iTunes, simple visit our website: elev8records.com

Here you can listen as well as download all our content....

iTunes Users

As we are new to iTunes we don't yet have any reviews, please feel free to leave us some comment as it will really help our presence on iTunes and make all my hours of uploading, recording and mixing feel worth it. We will greatly appreciate your efforts.

Cheers

Tim,
Elev8Records

the only things i think could help improve the site are...

1). a "delete all" button in inbox

2). somehow having the galleries Private... old bill watch these sites!!! a few peeps i know worry about the states they get in and who see's the pics, coppers, work members blah blah blah

3). somehow having the "peeps attending event" bit private too again as old bill, ex's and nut cases watch these sites and soo many peeps dont want every tom, dick and harry knowing were they gonna be

apart from that its deffo the 1st thing i log into every mornin at work lol

I still think an extra inbox for private msg's would be a big bonus (especially as I'm shockingly shite and deleting anything).....but some good points Toast.

I have to admit the last lot of changes that where made did greatly improve the site although I've still not figured out how some of the new bits work.

yeah a delete all button but one like you have on msn emails so you can deselect items you want to keep.

SOrry toast think the old bill can still access private stuff, there proper wizz on computers nowadays, as it involves them sitting on there arses and not actually going anywhere!!

I think a great effort is done by DSI to keep everything secure... if people upload incriminating pictures of themselves then that there problem similarly you can report if someone else uploads an unsuitable pic.

I don't really want to go down the path of what if's or should of's I just want to know how many people are actually still reading a post.

they can do, i know with love-bug we had ole bill turn up at Hush-Hush one night sayin they had been watching the site and goin thru the pics looking for known trouble makers which i surpose is a good thing as stops the assholes, but also they said they know who is gonna be here or there!!! its peeps privacy that they invade that way, but its the same for everyone!!!

any joe public can access the site without havin to log on maybe that needs to be addressed a bit like facebook ya have to be friends b4 anyone cann access y ainfo...?

For me the trouble with DSI is the fact that it's not focused on one specific area of Dance Music. Couple that with the fact that a couple of years ago everyone was trying to have more buddies than everyone else, people were massively concerned about group numbers rather than hitting their target audience. So you was ending up with someone who say likes house being invited to a dnb post/event/group with everyone adding their buddies to everything.

So you end up with 95% of your inbox full of stuff you have no interest in. Then add on top a few bad apples running around slating everyone for anything and everything and the site isn't looking too hot. If people where more regimented as to who they add as buddies or what groups they join / watch then it makes your inbox much easier to deal with. Trouble is now getting back all the people that have left because of my earlier points and i can't see that happening.

DSI was great when it first started. It was one of the only places that offered free photo hosting and there was achievable spotter goals. Now as the site has grown and expanded and met plenty of competition, the spotters incentives are practically worthless and there's a million sites on the web giving you free pic hosting. DSI needs to go back to being about clubbing and get rid of all these shitty pointless non music related groups and get the focus back towards clubbing and music

Toast...

People don't have to use there real names on the site... unless said person is already known to the Police then it unlikely it make any difference.

If said person is known to the police, probably best to close account on DSI and keep low profile.

Xi...

I agree.

The thing to bear in mind to be a successful "brand" on DSI nowadays is that you need to do things properly - list your event, generate good content (ie interviews with artists etc), get competitions, good galleries and so on. In other words, make it interesting for the users.

Why have the hard dance subgenres done better of late? I'd argue it is because we come on here 100% committed and passionate, we generate tons of content and go all out to get as much coverage as possible. Maybe I am wrong but a lot of the house/techno crowd come across as a bit apathetic and thiniking they are too coll to get fully immersed. You get out what you put in.

To give you an idea - we built our DSI group from zero to almost 1000 members in less than 10 months. That is now our primary source of marketing for the label and all our artists and response is phenomenal. Somewhere in the region of 75% of our bookings have come as a result of this site, and all at very good fees. The trick is to make your group interesting and fun, put other non-music stuff in your group too. Think of your brand's DSI group as an online pub - you'd talk about more than just music if you were out for a beer with mates and fans wouldn't you? If not, they would soon get bored and leave. carry it across and the results will be excellent.

Have a look at our group to get an idea what I am talking about: iluvDT.com and if you need any advice, ideas etc, drop me a line!

I don't think that's quite the case. I can't talk about the south coast or up north because i don't spend time in those areas of the site but in London it's more important to do street promo, flyering, word of mouth etc. Then London crowds got feed up with all the other shit on dsi and moved to Facebook or whatever else, leaving the London part of DSI very quiet. You can't force people to use a website. And when most of their inbox is filled with stuff of no interest and people are getting abuse on their pictures for no real reason then no matter how interesting you make your group, people aren't going to come to dsi to speak to their friends and find out about nights when they can do it on Facebook hassle free

Glad its still working well for you Ajay, I'm not saying the site has never been productive for us, without it I would not have DJ'ed around the globe, meet 90% of my friends and been involved in some amazing party's all thanks to this site.

I'm just interested to see who is still here and active, and why people think alot of people have moved on.

It could be just alot of us have grown up and had to get "real jobs!"... and actually do some work at work.

had to join to reply, but i thought it worth it. i do think there is a drop off but also its true that i have not logged on for a long while and yet have still been on hear weekly without fail.
my own experience is that there's an upcoming wave of ravers who just dont know the sites hear-they think all there is, is facebook. to me, facebook, bebo and such have the free advertising of word of mouth buzz right now, but i still love this site. it does what it sez on the tin the best. the people i talk to by large on facebook, all came from DSI! Alot of the new people just are unaware and need to be told. attract new spotters and the ravers will come back with them! thats how i found here. I love the site, im starting to get back into my photography and although i put my pic's up on both, i plan to put them here first to encourage people back. i like to help what's worthwhile... i better put in orders for more cards. lets talk up this site once again peeps!
