Gatecrasher - My Review!
All in all I thought Gatecrasher was a pretty decent festival! Obviously the lineup was superb, even without the chems its going to be hard to find another festival this year with so many huge names packed in!

We absolutely loved the DSI / Cement tent. It was rocking all the way until the unfortunate death of the chap at 2am. RIP to him. The place was totally rammed!!

Justice were awesome, the Prodigy made me feel 16 again, they were blasting out the old classics and everyone was moshing like they were at a rock gig!

God forbid I actually spent 25 minutes in the hardcore arena having a bloody good time! Those kids know how to party!!!

The star of the show was deffinetly my new ear plugs I got from anjunabeats. They kept me listening to the amazing music, without damaging my ears. They were really comfortable, I forgot I was wearing them for most of the festival!

If you are hitting the festivals this year then get yourself a pair!

All in all. Well done to Gatecrasher, roll on Summer Sound System 2009!

Gotta agree with ya thought this festival was awesome, good atmosphere despite the weather on sunday.

The Prodigy were wicked, i was extremely gutted that Chemical brothers didnt play, could they have been put in a different arena ? Pendulum were !!!

I managed to check out a couple of people i hadnt heard b4 aswell, Mark Ronson doing a DJ Set, boy this guy has skills on the decks !!! And Plastic little thought these guys were prety cool too.
Caught Meat Katie aswell doin his Funky Electro thing fucking love this guy!!

As fully pledged Hardcore Raver this tent was fuckin wicked, just what i needed after being awake all night on saturday, goin in there was like taking a drug itself, brought me right back up and fully prepared me from that day. The lighting in there was AMAZIN !!! and Gammer killed it as normal cant wait for uproar on sat and roll on spain....

All in all good festy, true british weather, cant wait for the next one, ive got the festy bug now !!!!!

Totally disagree!

The directions that were linked to the festival on Google Maps via GC website were wrong so took an age to get there. Then the lanyards were £10 and the set times all changed by the end of the 1st nite anyway so RatPack finised b4 they were meant to start! Armand van Helden didn't play, neither did Chemical Brothers or Hot Chip - have you ever heard of Glastonbury shutting down cuz of rain! I think not! Security were useless & rude. Hardly any1 got to see Dizzy Rascal cuz were shut out of tent, no running water, shit GC tents kept blowing away.....

The acts were all excellent but the festival was badly organised and loadz of people feel really let down. Chemical Brothers have not pulled out of a gig due to bad weather eva - in the 14 years thay've been playin out - so why did it happen @ GC...... CRAP ORGANISATION!

Loadza people got stuck outside tho & as for wind being the reason they shut the stage - Glastonbury never shut 4 that reason b4 either.

You are right, some lucky people got to see Dizzy but not every one - but every1 had paid for tickets. It hadn't even sold out so should have been room 4 every1 and they should have planned 4 it. As 4 the security - they were beiong total idiots & really rude when they wudn't let us in 2 c Dizzy Rascal - seemed to be on a power trip & were so unhelpful.

The whole thing was really poorly planned. Plzd u ada gud w/e :o) but we didn't.

The taps ran out of water too.

Hahaha think about what you're saying. Every tent should be able to fit capacity of the whole festival? That would be rubbish. It was a tent, it was Dizzee Rascal, and had people thought about it, might have realised that it would reach capacity. -

Had thay kept main stage open it wudn't have been a problem. IT WAS GATECRASHER'S BAD PLANNING THAT MESSED IT UP! And they shud have put a note on the tickets saying dat u need to arrive early (which we wud have if they hadn't started to extra searches cuz they'd done such a crap job in da 1st place)!

I wasn't being rude so they shudn't have been rude 2 me!

By extra searches I mean that they started searching every1 on the way into the arena just b4 Dizzy Rascal started so it took 30mins to get in. They were already supposed to have searched people on the way into the site but they didn't do it very well so they did it again (and then again). A bit annoying when u kno dat ur not smuggling anything in.

Hot Chip were due to play at the same time as Dizzy so might not have been so full in the main stage was still playin out.

I can see why they might b rude too but c'n as they were working on GC behalf they cud've said "sorry its to full" rather than just keep sending people to different extrances & having attitude. How wud they feel if they'd paid £115 to see people when most of them had been cancelled?

Just chuffed I saw Prodigy as made my w/e!

I had a wicked time, but for someone that has been going Gatecrasher events for 10 years and is a lover of everything Crasher.... I have to admit, that it has changed. £20 to park and for a lanyard is a complete p*ss take.

And I am glad I never stayed for the Sunday coz I would have been well annoyed if the main stage was shut.... if every other festival can sort it, so should Crasher.... after all we live in England and its rainy and windy all the time.

Paul Van Dyk was ace.... shame Ingrosso and Angello were on at the same time as Prodigy though.... as there was about 20 there to see them!!

Well i've got to say i thought it was one of the best organised festivals i've been to (and i've been to loads, including Glastonbury... which have also had problems with stages, due to bad weather in the past) I was very impressed with the whole layout of the event.

I was especially impressed with the toilets, cleaned out on a regular basis, and hardly any queues. I felt particularly safe in the campsite, which cant be said for every festival i've been to.

Yes the weather was bad, but GC cant be blamed for that? (although maybe the August Bankholiday would be a safer bet in this country LOL) I think they tried to make the best out of a bad situation

I didnt have a problem filling my water up (ones by the Crasher tent)

I've got to agree i think that if you've paid for your ticket, you shouldnt have to pay to park... Global doesnt charge... i also think the lanards were a little pricey (however they normally are at fesitvals)

As for the times etc changing after the first night.... that was because of somebody died and the tent closed, and because they were trying to put acts who were meant to be on the outdoor stage in tents.... so to be honest you cant blame GC for that? These things happen.

I had a wicked time at GS and considering it was there first two day (camping event) i think they did an awesome job.... much better than the likes of Glasto and Global who have had years of practice!

First festival I've been to and have got the bug now!

Saturday was amazing: Prodigy, Mauro Picotto, Cassius, the Cement tent - was in there to see Arman Van Helden when it got closed off.

Sunday: missed virtually everyone I wanted to see as the schedule got shifted around. Was in Metropolis (near the front) to see Dizzee at 5.30 but I left when he still wasn't on at 6.30 - then I couldn't get back in! Lighting and effects were amazing in Gatecrasher arena. Oakenfold was great as were Simian Mobile Disco.

I didn't mind the schedule changing (because of weather and closure of the Cement tent) but if only they could have let us know who was where somehow - a big board or something.

Annoyed I missed Paul Van Dyk and Mark Ronson (my fault) but especially Pendulum.

Stayed in one of the beach huts and was money well spent - dry and didn't blow away!

Everone you wanted to see, like Dizzie, Hot Chip should never be at a Dance festival anyway

I don't understand out of all the people who were playing, you piad £115 and travelled all the way to a Dance festival to see some commercial shit and hip hop........have a word!
Who laughed: rubberdub, jaxx4 and Crazy-Ivan
