Goodgreef Interview Amber D before Goodgreef returns to Club Tall Trees 31.01.09

1. What was your first ever professional gig and what was the last night you played at?
I had a fantastic start to my DJ Career. I actually started out playing out the infamous Golden in Stoke on Trent. This was also my first residency. I used to play the first 3 hours, which was great as it gave me a chance to really build the energy up from quite progressive trance and up from that.

2. Three people you'd kill to work with in your lifetime - who, why and what would you dream of doing with them?
I would have loved to of worked with Tony De Vit. I love the Trade style, and he was such a pioneer in the hard house sound that we know and love today. Also, I would love to work with Crookers. I also DJ and run a record label on Electro / House (www.damourrecordings.com ) under the guise Amber D'Amour as I love the electro crunk style. so that would be amazing. And thirdly, I think I'd like to work with an MC such as Storm or Whizzkid on a track. I think when done properly, this would work so well. just take Whizzkid & Technikal's - Music For A Harder Generation for example.

3. How do you see the scene 5 years from now?
I am sure that we will always have a great music industry and scene. Things always change, and that is only a good thing, as it stops it becoming stale. I am sure the Hard House sound that we know and love will have evolved yet again by then, although I am always partial to digging around for old favourites to use in my sets.

4. How big is your vinyl collection? What do you think of CDJ's?
My vinyl collection is still bigger than my CD collection! I do miss playing vinyl. I think CDJ's definitely serve their purpose, good consistent quality, up to the minute remixes and music fresh from the studio. but it is also a double edged sword. It also makes music quite disposable. And also I loved the fact that my vinyl sleeves had certain designs and logo's etc. They were more collectables for me. and every vinyl sleeve reminds me of a certain time. and gives me a sense of nostalgia.

5. Funniest thing that ever happened at an event?
I did a stage dive at The Coach, Ireland last year. That was a funny moment. If anyone has been there, they will know the DJ Box used to be about 15ft off the floor, so it was quite a dive!

6. Other DJs you rate?
I’m loving Morgan at the moment. He’s doing very well for himself. And also Rodi Style. He’s brought a lot of quality tracks to the scene lately.

7. Out of all the tunes you have, which one 'never fails?'
Amber D - Rush on Me. (shameless plug, but its true!)

8. What's your favourite tune of all time?
This is something that changes on a regular basis. But it would probably be Armand Van Helden - You Don't Know Me.

9. GG @ TT will be your first ever GG Xtra hard date, how does it feel to not only be playing your GG debut, but to also be playing at the Biggest UK Club Date of 2009?
Really looking forward to it! The line up is second to none. I have had a lot of fans give me the heads up that they're coming to see my debut, so I'm pulling out all the stops for this one! I'll be doing a CD giveaway on the night also during my set.
