What is Hardcore Shenanigans?

HARDCORE SHENANIGANS

HARDCORE SHENANIGANS is a hardcore event based in Clacton on Sea, Essex.

It is run by Paul “Bogul” Morrison and Jamie “S-Concept” Sharpe with the help of many of our friends whose assistance is much appreciated.

Hardcore Shenanigans was formed in 2008 when it became clear from the amount of people in Clacton a) turning up to house-parties we would put on and b) travelling to hardcore events outside of the local area that there was enough interest in the town to warrant having our own event.

Clacton had not hosted an event of this nature or size since the days of UK DANCE at Rumours and HELTER SKETLER at Oscars during the 90’s. Once we’d decided that we wanted to put on an event we set about finding a venue. After a meeting with the then owners of Rumours Nightclub it was decided that on the paying of a deposit to secure the venue that we would hold our events there. Time went by and the event drew ever closer and our flyer was produced. Then the whole plan was thrown into possible catastrophe as the club closed down! Luckily although the new owners had been told nothing about our booking and had not been left our deposit they agreed that the event could still go on. So although out of pocket Hardcore Shenanigans Event One still went ahead at the newly renamed Vice Versa Nightclub.

In the lead up to event one we were approached by the manager of The Cockney Pride pub with regards to putting on an event there, this would be a great flyering opportunity for us. Sunday Shenanigans ran throughout the day on 29th June 2008 playing House, Trance, Oldskool and Hardcore. It was a huge success with the late night hardcore sets dominating the dance floor. The management were impressed with the turn out and asked us to come back again later in the summer.

Hardcore Shenanigans Event One ran on Friday 25th July 2008 featuring local legend DJ Force as well as Essex bad-boys Vibes & Livelee and was a massive success, DJ Vibes, who has been around on the scene since hardcore began in the early 90’s was quoted as saying “It was the best first event he’d ever been to” which was much praise from someone so well respected. The management were also pleased with how it went and it was agreed there would be more events to come.

Our next outing on 3rd August 2008 saw us return to The Cockney Pride with Sunday Shenanigans Summer Stompathon, it ran again with the same format as the first Sunday event with Drum and Bass and Jungle added for more diversity, again Hardcore was the biggest success. Unfortunately due to the closure of The Cockney Pride this was our last day time event but you never know there may be more in the future.

From this point on we decided that we would like to bring the biggest name DJ’s and MC’s to our event and our events have now featured DARREN STYLES, DJ GAMMER, DJ SY, DJ DOUGAL, DJ FORCE, DJ MISTER STEWART, VIBES & LIVELEE, MC WHIZZKID, MC STORM, MC SCOTTI B, MC CHIT-CHAT, MC SMILEY & MC SPENNO as well as our own crop of up and coming talent.

All 4 Hardcore Shenanigans events so far have been big hits and event 5 is on its way later this year!

Hi people, I'm Bogul, I'm 25 and Currently working as an actor. and I'm Co-Promoter of Hardcore Shenanigans. i'm from Clacton on Sea in Essex but i lived in coventry for a few years so i'm a regular at a few different midlands events, Been Ravin since I was 15 (if u include Force & Styles's UK Dance nights), my first big event was Hardcore Heaven at the Sancturary Milton Keynes (RIP) in February 2002 and I've not stopped since.

Hi all I'm Jay, 25 and soon to be a daddy! I'm currently working as a training consultant. I work for HTID at events, so you shall normally see me outside with a clip board sorting your entry codes. I have been DJing now for 2 years with S-Concept and look after some of the online work with Shenanigans.

Hi i'm Wez or DJ JPM and i'm from Reading, I've been raving for almost 11 years and DJ'ing for about the same time. I started DJing out last year and apart from my residency at shenanigans i have played at revive in Devize's with resident Mc Merlin.

Hi Im Mc Merlin also known to some people as Daz P I have been raving for about 8 years and mcing properly for just over 2 years.I have played at some really good events but love my residencey at shenanigans the crowd down in Essex is brilliant and ive met some amazing people down there.I am also soon to be a daddy thanks to my lovely wife so between me and dj h.e.b were starting a new breed of hardcore.One of my best mcing moments was mcing to Dj Dougal at Shenanigans event 2.Big respect to all the crew dj's,mc's and ravers your all awsome and with out you my dream wouldnt be possible. :)

Hi im Siddall and im from Clacton. I have been raving for about 2 years now and every time seems to get better. i have also been dj'ing for about the same time. I love my hardcore but also (not so secretly) drum and bass. I look forward to playing with the shenaningans crew in the future. Roll on the next event! =o)
