What is HeatUK?

What is HeatUK?

The first ever HeatUK event was held in the promoter’s backyard in the summer of 2001. Damian Gelle and Antony Marmot the two promoters of Heat Events are a couple of backpackers from Australia, who during their travels fell in love with UK trance and hard dance sound. Wanting to establish their own event – they dreamed of throwing the biggest parties ever imaginable with mind-blowing production at venues other promoters had never used before. Events clubbers would talk about forever!

After the backyard party the HeatUK promoters moved to what was formerly known as the ‘Rock’ club at Embankment in London. Word soon travelled fast around the clubbing community about a hard dance party selling out this upmarket venue by 4pm every Saturday afternoon. After seven months of Saturday afternoon events the promoters decided to test the water with their first night event which was a roadblocked event at the 2000 capacity Camden Palace! This lead to a successful Saturday night residency for one year at the superclub Turnmills. These days HeatUK events pop up anywhere with sell out events at Pacha, The Cross, Koko, Heaven, The Shepherd’s Bush Empire, The Fridge, The Coronet, The Clapham Grand, and the mighty 4500 capacity Brixton Academy (the event HeatNYE has been here for four years and remains London’s biggest New Year’s Eve event!).

Less than three years after it all began the Heat Events promoters pulled off one of the biggest outdoor parties ever seen with a sell out event across the Clapham Common in London for 10,000 people. South West Four (click for SW4's DSI page) has become London’s biggest dance festival and still is the only outdoor event in the capital which provides a hard dance arena with an A-List schedule of DJs.

Internationally HeatUK parties have featured in Holland, Thailand, Germany (recently with a cruise ship event with 400+ clubbers to Cuxhaven!) Japan, and every June along with travel partners Radical Escapes, the Ibizian Heat brand takes 500 clubbers to the isle of dance for a series of unforgettable events at the best clubs in the world.

When it comes to DJs all the big names have featured from Fergie to Lisa Lashes or Ferry Corsten through to Marco V. After four years HeatUK’s very own champions of the hard sound are starting to shine through with the original residents Marc French and Ian Betts two of the most in demand DJs in London. Ian was recently seen alongside Tiesto and Armin Van Buuren at Amnesia in Ibiza and performed not one but two sets at Holland’s Dance Valley! The recent addition to the team is the 19-year-old Technikal who is already being hailed as one of the underground’s greatest ever hard dance producers. These stars and more will be providing an unforgettable soundtrack at our next events - join the HeatUK DSI group by clicking below and we’ll keep you informed as to when our next event is!

“…this year’s SW4 fest on August Bank holiday Saturday drew 20,000 to Clapham Common. How did they follow that? Well, the Brixton Academy after-party was another roadblock and then they ram-jammed the after-after party at The Fridge too finishing 24 hours after they’d started. Maybe they could have sold out more carry-ons, but even Heat promoters need to get some sleep eventually.” Dave Swindells, Time Out
