INFECTIOUS BREAKS / SAT 9TH MAY / FOTZA & KAI_1
INFECTIOUS BREAKS take over the VENUS BAR for a free night of smart breaks and sharp beats on Saturday 9th May. Joining the residents and weaving between the squeaks, stomps and wobbles against a solid backbone of pummelliing breakbeats are two local acts set to detonate the floor with their dynamic nuskool stylings.

Fotza is head honcho at Kiss My Bass, master puppeteer and self-proclaimed general circus freak. His love of downright freaky music has led him on a journey of magnificent proportions through twisted ska, hip-hop, dnb, breaks and electro and that’s just the tip of it. Musical grooves and foot stomping fx, beats and basslines keep things lively from this forward thrusting breaks entertainer.

Kai_1 is resident DJ and co-promoter of the Tribal Medicine parties, an event covering all forms of hard and funky underground music from Electro and Breaks to Techno and a bit of Psy thrown in too. These influences are recognisable in a Kai_1 set as the acidic mayhem and glitchy fx melts bassbins with a hint of menace.

The residents providing the sonic onslaught of bleepy freak-funk for the feelgood electro heads are MIKE CUBIST and his futuristic take of chemically enhanced distorted mayhem, the splurging bass splutter of IGNITION + PROMO and the slinky beats and sensual broken tech-funk of LEE + MARK MARTIN. Vocals are provided with the distinctive reggae leanings of SIDEKICK MC.

Confirmed to the final line up for 9th May at Venus is producer/performer/promoter Vortechtral. Vortechtral has been producing and performing live electronic music from ambient to techno, through his aliases, Vortechtral, Vortechtral AM, and Benni Blanco since early 1998. The Vortechtral sound is a big room fusion of bass line driven techno, electro and pumping house influences, combining to create a highly infectious and musical style. Highly regarded and well supported releases and remixes have gone out on labels across the world with his current album Vertice out now on in deep recordings. The latest mixes No Redemption and the Bass States of Mind are high octane breaks deep in tearout territory and need to be checked out.

This is a surprise! When I could Vortechtral down the Fawcett a couple of weeks ago, he was playing some great records, so looking forward to seeing him again!
