Influential House is the brainchild and alias of Scott Harrington. Hailing from Southend-on-sea, Essex, Scott 32 was in to his music from an early age, listening to early electro (Street Sounds) and Hip Hop. As he grew older, his musical knowledge expanded and by the time he'd hit 14 was listening to early house and rave, influenced by the likes of Colin Faver, Colin Dale, Eddie Richards, Steve Jackson and the many pirate radio stations that where around, Pulse, Fantasy, Elite, Planet to name a few.
At 16, his first set of turntables where bought and after a few years building a record collection and mastering his mixing abilities, landed his first DJ set, guesting for one of Southend's House Music promoters Hear No Evil, at a nightclub known locally as Adlib.
This was the start of something new and followed with more bookings from Hear No Evil, Stripped, Funkissential, Groovilicious, Stereo, Holla! and Dirty Dog, all in venues locally including Club Zinc, Saks and the Royal Hotel.
It was during this period that he decided to launch his own Record label, aptly entitled Influential House and took a few years out to launch and build it with some reputable signings. These early signings included Kevin Sunray with 'Truly Remarkable' who went on to have releases with Grant Nelson's Wyze and Peppermint Jam's Prog City, the track was also licensed to Plastic City on mix compilation, Deep Train.
Since the success of the launch, with artist and label support coming from Laurent Garnier, Subliminal and Deep Dish, Scott made a return late last year (2006) playing for the likes of Housonic, Funk U, Groovilicious, Audio Chic, Substance and Nu Dawn. He also teamed up with fellow DJ Travis to host 6 monthly parties under the record label name, Influential House Sessions at the Sunrooms in Southend on Sea, which they also took to Turnmills and Fluid in Farringdon, London.
Influenced by the likes of Erick Morillo, Dave Piccioni and Tom Stephan, Scott describes his style as "upfront underground house, with a few classics thrown in for good measures, pure and simple".
2008 will see Scott and his Influential House moniker guesting at the Medicine Bar in Shoreditch for Wildlife, Turnmills in Farringdon for Stripped and also start off his new residency for Southend's Push:fwd, alongside DJ's including Colin Dale, Terry Farley, Eddie Richards and King Roc. With the addition of great signings lined up for the label, Scott is looking towards a positive future in the music industry.
