MIXMAG REVIEW - WESTFEST!
Hey All,

We are looking for anyone who went to this gig to give us a little quote / review that we can use in Mixmag.

Something short and snappy - did you enjoy it? What was the atmosphere like? What was the club like, any big moments / amazing sets?

Leave us a comment in this thread and you may well find we print your face and your comments in Mixmag!

Cheers,
JB

A short comment to describe Westfest eh? How about Immense, insane and utterly awesome! The atmosphere was electric, no trouble, no attitude - just unlimited, uncensored, non-stop ravin' action! One of the best nights of the year, every year :D

OK, maybe that wasn't so short... :S

My first one but definitely not my last, breathtakingly awesome event. Cally & Juice Rocking the Bionic room with their live set was one of the many hightlights of the evening for me

Here's my review of Westfest, attending for the first time. Have a read and see if there's anything in there you like.

ALEXXX RAVE MACHINE review article for WESTFEST 2009

Attending every rave with a hardcore music presence almost religiously over the last 4 years, only one event consistently eluded me in the calendar year (due to my annual birthday celebrations). According to many that one night just so happened to be the "rave of the year". Lucky me traditionally missing out, haha. I'd hear year after year from ravers nationwide about Westfest, that if you were to go to one rave in the year make sure it's Westfest, charted by several among their own "top parties to do before you die" list so to speak.

I'd always felt I preferred the smaller to medium-sized rave events, with their unique sociable local atmospheres, undying support for their favourite music, and the resident ravers' passionate zeal haunting their local venues. If raving were a religion with its anthems, the smaller raves are the equivalent of weekend church and its hymns metaphorically. Within that same context, after attending Westfest for the first time ever this year, it is without doubt on that one night Slammin Vinyl hosts what is most certainly the annual pilgrimage for all harder music ravers.
Over long motorways, rail and plane journeys, "yes plane!", Westfest brought ravers across oceans from as far as the United States West coast, to our Aussie friends down under, all descending upon a rural area in Somerset named Shepton Mallet.

While the chilly autumn/winter weather served less desirable elements on the night, Westfest created its own World environment with thousands of harder-music loving ravers; both international and domestic, crazy funfair rides, culinary delights, and impressive pyrotechnics, all set to the absolute best sounds of Hardcore, Drum & Bass, Hard Dance, Hard House & all the more that was on offer provided by the industry's top cream of the crop performers. The sheer scale of the event was breathtaking and equally so matched by the quality in production and performances of the highest caliber, making Westfest no short of being a spectacle in every sense, living true to the raving whispers or moreover "loud conversations on the dancefloors!" amidst the raving fun that takes place at parties all over the UK every weekend the year round.

Even now I still meet ravers at those different smaller events all over the country every weekend, who say "Hey you were at Westfest!", and see them meeting others randomly making new friends all year round. I still enjoy the smaller parties a great deal for their chatty & wonderfully unique social atmospheres, but Westfest really shows why its position in the minds of most ravers is firmly staked as "Rave Of The Year". With so much to see, experience and enjoy, the excitement of the whole spectacle can easily detract away from the ravers taking time out socialising, but it's understood given the vast array on offer, visually, sonically, and all otherwise. It's clear why Westfest is looked forward to by many above any other event on the annual calendar, and from my experience the only way to really understand that is to actually witness yourself, the grandest annual showcase event the rave scene has to offer.

Thank you Westfest, all who were part of it, who worked hard to make it happen and all who attended.

See you next year!

AlexXx.

Ticket = Check
Money = Check
Ravers = Check

This was the 3rd Westfest I've been to. As always, the entire venue was pumping, music ripping through the air. The atmosphere was electric. Each arena I ventured into the music soared across full pelt.
Best set for me had to of been Scorpio with MC Squidgy B and Si the Sigh. Full on nasty, distorted, hard hitting music!
