I still use DSI, mainly to keep in touch with clubbing mates. As for the inbox messages and emails, I just delete them automatically - there are so many of them and related to events which are either far from where I live or I'm not interested into.
As seem to have happened all over the net since the spreading of chat forums, the vibe has become somewhat unpleasant (well, at least for me), with a lot of disrespectful comments and bullying.

To the point that I'm surprised DSI still manage to find sponsors at all - if I had a business, or a company, there would be no way I'd want my brand to be associated, even remotely, to what's going on here, on the front page often you see a company logo and threads with titles like 'STD whore' (that was one of the most popular ones some time ago).

Although, on the other hand, quite a few DSIers (a growing number, surely) seem to absolutely love the incessant arguing, offensive remarks, etc., maybe marketing people find that 'edgy', 'modern', whatever. I suppose that type of people constitute a 'target market'.

I'm not British and maybe that's a cultural difference, but I just can't understand the need to be offensive toward people for the way they look, etc.
One would think that being an adult means also getting over the playground mentality.

the site attracts a huge amount of site traffic, and gives promoters/advertisers and what not the opportunity to get their message across to a huge audience, regardless of what is being brought up elsewhere across the site. A massive majority of the site are 18-30 year olds which is a great demographic for potential advertisers for clubwear, sportswear, clubnights, etc.

The irony of your statement is that despite your dislike of threads with titles like 'STD whore' you still use the site to network, post pictures, etc-the same reason people choose to advertise their products, brands, etc-the site traffic is always here

Wow, it must feel really great to repeat other people's words in a hope to get a pat on your head from those who had previously been ripping the piss out of you. I bet your panties got a bit wet, when you were told you were improving. Stop licking arse and come up with some original comments (although you may fail just like with that "easy on the hips" thread).

I must say that creating a fake profile (or asking a mate) just to defend yourself is a bit weak :S The number of people on your side, saying what a great person you really are, doesn't necessarily make your comments/point of view stronger, if you know what I mean.

dont forget though, a This made me laugh is for life, not just for christmas.

Sure as hell I use the site, I love the DSI concept of bringing clubbers together and I like its visual edge - every user can be visible, etc.
What I don't feel confortable at all with is the spiteful, sarcastic, aggressive attitude of a growing number of users.
Maybe the DSI HQ is not too bothered about it because, still on the subject of web traffic, any keyboard warrior or troll worth its board name will produce a lot more traffic of someone who uses the site merely to browse pictures, say hi to friends, or to talk about an event.

we're down to demographics again. regardless of how the site traffic uses the site, the potential to attract interest to certain nights/products etc is still huge.

lets be honest, if nike were to start advertising their new clima-fit trainers, would they care what the users were saying to each other? They think in terms of relevant impressions made, the traffic from this site of which would generate a huge amount of relevant site traffic

At its peak DSI had over a million unique users-on an advertising level, thats almost like gold dust. I've worked for sites that have only generated a 10th of that traffic and still managed to sell homepage branding day in day out.

I agree with Dutch Bird you really are sad people who think its funny to take the piss out of something or someone. Have you thought how people feel? obviously not! you may think that people are on your side Kirf, Chelsea Boy, Sean but in actual fact people are not laughing with you there laugh at you. All 3 of you aint exactly gods gift especially Sean who looks like he is gone cottaging as sure as shit something has gone up his rear end by the look on his face! but hey no ones perfect. I just dont understand the reason for people to harrass or try to pull people down, part of it is jealousy I think. I have a feeling Sean and his little playmates are envious, as why just single out Sparki? plenty more other people to pick on in this world. One day they will pick on the wrong person and regret what they say, not so hard then are they from behind a screen!
