Promised Land last night at Shepherds Bush Empire
Well what can I say - what has happened to the Promised Land that I knew and loved. Last night was a complete shambles!!! My partner and I made a long journey to Shepherds Bush which was a complete waste of time. How can you charge people to attend this event when the DJs can't even mix two records together or should I say don't even attempt to! We were there less than 3 nothours and heard tracks played multiple times. The sound was terrible everything was played so slow that nothing sounded like the track that it was! Bizarre versions of tracks that if played as the original would have rocked the place! I lost count of the amount of times we put our hands over our faces in disbelief!!! It sounded like a couple of guys messing around in their bedroom - totally embarassing. If this is what Promised Land has become then Au Revoir. I'd be interested to know if anyone has similar views. We have both been going out since the original acid house scene and the Promised Land at Hidden last year was 10 our of 10 brilliant but this seemed like aliens had abducted the original sound no consistency to the genre of tracks being played at any one time. What the fuck happened?
