***IMPORTANT RIVER ANNOUNCEMENT***
As many of you are no doubt aware
River Bar has been sold. This brings to an end
six fantastic years in which ClubClass has taken a former bikers bar and converted it into one of the UK’s most respected venues. Since
2001 River has played host to many of the
world’s greatest DJs a tremendous feat when considering the limited capacity of the bar and the fact that these artists only usually reserve their gigs for the world’s biggest and best nightclubs.
Who will forget that Sunday night in
July 2005 when
Sharam of Deep Dish came and destroyed River with decks set up on beer creates? Or that
New Years Day when Nic
Fanciulli played together with James
Zabiela, a night that would play a huge factor in the creation of their One + One project that has since gone on to achieve world domination. And then there are the memorable nights that
River has played host to over the years such as
Groove Monkey, Medication, Babyshake, Riot, Elevate and Zoolu to name a few.
And that’s before we get to other great moments like the
car park rave, the
Bunk Holiday Sundays, the
River Awards, the
Vinyl/Rhythmclash DJ competitions,
Fanciulli’s legendary New Years Eve sets and the
Atomics Reunions. It’s clear that this has been one hell of a ride and very much spells the
end of an era. We would like to send a
HUGE thank you to every DJ, promoter, staff member, blagger and everyone else who has enjoyed a drink with us over the years and made River what it was.
However like all good things, this must come to an end. And like when ClubClass left Atomics, Ikon and now River,
we will return to Maidstone bigger and better than ever before. We have many
great nights in the pipeline and will continue to bring
you the world's best DJs, the best music and the best events the town has
EVER seen. The announcements will begin
VERY soon so keep your eyes and ears peeled people.
