Scum’s the Name and Techno’s our Game (Scum Like Us is a non profit making organisation) History: Scum Like Us was born in 2001 under a M1 motoway bridge when 3 friends decided to bring their own sound to the free party scene. The sound system grew from equipment donated from other local sound systems until the time came for us to build our own. Now a monster 14k system has been design to produce the purist techno sound. In 2002 Scum started their regular Thursday night stomp out at the live music venue kelly's in their home town of Leamington Spa. The successes of the night lead to working with Brimingham legends Cohesion at their Underground City night at the Custard Factory. Staying true to its free party roots the next year saw Scum teaming up with DMT and Fucked Right UP for the May and August bank holiday UK tek parties. Over the last few years Scum have concentrated on building their reputation in the Techno club scene putting on parties at the legendary Q Club (Birmingham), the Indigo O2 arena (London) with Psytrance & Techno masters Antiworld. As well as teaming up with E:volve (Birmingham) and returning to host the Custard Factory. Scum have also been taking their sound on tour with dates at Anonymous sounds club night Legal (Bradford) and Tribe of Medicine's Overload at the fort (1 mile out to sea off the Portsmouth coast). Scum Like Us DJ's have been to the Freekuency Festival (Portugal) the last 2 years running and are planning to go again next year. Recently back on home turf (Leamington) to take over Bath Place Community Venture transforming it in a complete club atmosphere packing electro techno beats and a bar area with some deep reggae grooves. Now: As well as doing sound system and lighting hire for events like Underground City (Birmingham), Saucered (Coventry), Hexatek (Birmingham), Toxic City (Birmingham), We alsso run Ear Juice Studios which is based in a community arts workshop. Down at the Scum Studio’s Pablo has enough tracks ready to start a record label now and are working on several other side projects. We have been writing techno with J101, Nihilist (Toxic City) Stamce and other people over the last few months and we are forming our own brand of Funky ‘Avin It Techno……. S.L.U.T.
