Hey. Iv'e just moved from Belfast to Leicester for uni. Been to the Emporium. Had to go after I seen Storm win best club at Hard Dance Awards in leeds which was a rockin' night! Any other reccommendation for anywhere to go? Costs £30 in a taxi back from Emporium sadly my funds aren't stretching. Hoping to get for 28th Nov. X

You were a keen Basketball player before you were a DJ, even to the stage of representing England in competitions. What made you choose Music over a career in Basketball?

Well, it all came to a head when I was away on an All-Star Basketball Camp my parents paid for me to attend. I found myself playing the best basketball of my life but at the same time thinking about DJing and Hard-dance while I was doing it!

Something had to give and so after a day I waited until we had a water break between drills and literally sprinted to my dorm, grabbed my stuff and stealth’d to the gate with my friend whose granddad was waiting for us. I haven’t played since but am still a big fan and watch it on TV.

I guess it just got to that point in my life where my interests were changing with clubbing and DJing becoming my passion, I haven’t looked back since!



People that know you, know you have a very creative side, so much so you have a HND in Graphics?

That was my other career path, art and graphic design. I learnt from Grand-dad Whitby, who taught me how to draw; it was all I did when I was younger.

As time went on I got into graphic design and attended the Mid Cheshire Art College ‘oop North where I used to live and the plan was to get a job at the end of the course as a Graphic Designer. Fate took control however and I got signed to Frantic shortly after, changing my life forever!



You and Cally have been referred to as the Posh & Becks of the Hard Dance World! What’s it like to live with another DJ that happened to also be your girlfriend? What is the most comment argument you have over music?

*laughs* have we? How random!

It’s nice to finally have a partner who understands what I do…as she does it too! Our life is completely unlike any other couple we know though as we’re so busy. Cally also has a full-time job and as I don’t get up until around 10am each day she’s already left. We chat through the day but don’t see each other until 5:30pm.

Obviously weekends are a little insane in Whitby-Gage-Towers, as she’ll have her friends over getting ready for shows while I’m dashing about getting things ready for mine. Then it’s a case of in-the-car-and-see-you-Sunday!

The most common argument we have about music is if we’re playing on the same bill and have to ‘share’ tracks, things like ‘well if you’re having ‘Chainsaw’ baby, there’s no fucking way your having ‘Playing with Knives’ too!’ are a constant feature in weekend chat! *laughs*

I’m insanely proud of what Cally is doing though, and although we don’t see much of one another, I try to offer advice and support where it’s needed as I’ve been doing this for a little longer and want her to succeed.



We hear you have 2 new recruits in the AWsum office, who regularly feature on your twitter pics!

Henry & Archie are indeed my new AWsum signings. They spend each day in the office at home making sure everything is running smoothly. Both are quite lazy and spend most of the day sleeping or moaning for me to play with them, but then that’s expected from a pair of little Westies isn’t it!

As well as being a world class DJ, a England Basket Ball player and a whiz kidd on the design front, your also a very talented gamer! Owning not only an X Box 360 but also PS3 and a Wii … Would you be prepared to give out your gamer-tag so the Storm lot can challenge you online?

*laughs* I can indeed! My gamer-tag on both PS3 and 360 is ‘saviourwhitby’, so please – bring it the fuck on dudes! I’ve recently deleted a load of names off my Xbox list as it was full, so new challenges are welcome! At present I’m all over Modern Warfare 2, Fifa and UFC.

You seem like the kind of person that has to assure everything is perfect and in place… OCD comes to mind! Sorry if that has offended you!!!

No no, that’s fine…I’ll be the first to admit I have a problem with everything being so, it drives Cally and all my friends crazy!

Everything has to be just ‘so’ or a I can’t settle, it’s annoying but being a perfectionist has gotten me to where I am today as I constantly want things to be right and can’t settle until they are.
