Hi Yousef please introduce yourself…
Hi, I’m Yousef, I’m from Liverpool, from Egyptian decent, now live in Ibiza. I run and own Circus, a club night in Liverpool which won UK club of the year. I travel the world constantly DJing, which I really enjoy. I've been ding since I was 16, I'm now 31. I produce under the names, 10000 BC, Harry Monroe, Drum Bums and Yousef. I’ve had records out on Junior, Phonectic, Dysfunktional, my own Carioca label and Cr2. I’ve remixed Ian Brown, Jamiroquai, Fatboy Slim, Moloko, Tim Deluxe, Style of Eye and many others.

You’ve been playing for Dusted in Ibiza… what’s been the best thing about the parties?
It’s not too serious, friendly faces, no stress, good fun, and a good party

Tell us about your favourite Ibiza place?
I love the square behind Vara de Ray. Its so multi cultural, people form all over the world in pretty much the same position, as in, we are all travellers so we all get on.

What’s your current favourite track to play out?
I like Bad Clock by Sebastian Leger and my own "The Approach" is doing well for me.

What qualities make a good DJ?
A broad musical knowledge is very very important. A solid work ethic and a positive attitude couple with a strong personality.

What qualities make a good club night?
Same as above and a lot of hard work!

The concept of Circus is “serious house music and fun times” how do you as promoter and DJ ensure this is delivered?
I book all the line ups, keep a close eye on the artwork and promotion and try to get my personality across on the dancefloor. Its never us and them. there will never be a VIP room. The important people are those who have paid to get in and they are made to feel that way.

What qualities do you look for in the guests for the Circus line ups?
Great music, an ability to rock a crowd, a varying music policy and a dash of popularity. you pretty much need all of the ingredients to ensure a successful party.

Who does Yousef like being on a line up with?
I admire a wide range of DJs. Carl Cox to Onionz, Sneak to Nic Fanciulli, Laurent Garnier to Alex Wolfenden, Trentmoller to Jeff Mills, Soul Mekanik to Green Velvet. People who believe in what they are about.

What do you think about new music & clubbing websites such as My Space and Don’t Stay In.com?
They are a good place to communicate with people you sometimes may not be able to get hold of. It’s taken the VIP room away once more which I’m happy about. I get hits and questions from clubbers on my space www.myspace/yousefcircus everyday. It’s all very positive.

Please tell us about your label Carioca?
Ahhh, Carioca... my labour of love. a very small indie label, based in Liverpool, handled by 3beat label management. Releases from Onionz, Alex Wolfenden, Jordan Fields, Dirty Soul, Blakkat and myself along with collaborations with Justin Long, Nic Fanciulli, Paul woolford and Gene Farris.
