HOCUS POCUS IN IBIZA FOR 5 GIGS IN 7 NIGHTS!
Hola cómo es usted?

Well as you have probably guessed we are well and truly back in the UK with nothing short of an unhealthy dose of the Ibiza blues! But on a very plus side we had a great time. Here is a rundown of the events and what happened on that magical island...

We landed midday on Saturday 3rd July to temperatures of around 30deg C! Promptly got to our hotels checked in and started the task of promoting.

First Stop was Kanya to check all was good for our Pool party on the Friday which it was. A couple of cheeky ones to wet the whistle and were off to our second destination of the afternoon.

The Orange Corner, a venue who this year has endured many a change in resident DJ looking after the day to day promotions and music. Upon meeting the new guy (hello John) we were left in shock and disappointment that we would not be able to hold our all day Beach party due to a change in law and regulations on the island ?. Once the horror had set in and not wanting to let down all our DJ’s and Clubbers, Nicky Lar, who after many a conversation, text messaging & a cruel prank being played on him (nice one John) helped get it back on and all was well.

Last port of call for the afternoon was VIVA bar, voted best Workers bar in San Antonio for the last 3 years. Chris the Disco Dirt promoter checked that all was well for that evening to proceed, which it was & we were absolutely over the moon to be offered the chance to host the Funky room in EDEN on Tuesday night for Garlands. A very quick nod of the head ensued from all and it was booked!
So it was back to the Hotel grab some food get sorted and back to VIVA to start our Opening party at 10pm sharp!

Hocus Pocus & Disco Dirt Opening party and Welcome meeting at VIVA bar Saturday 3rd July San Antonio, Ibiza.
Now I could tell you a lot about the start of the night but by the end it got a bit messy as our photos will show so I shall leave it to them to tell the tale. What I will tell you is that all DJ’s played fantastic sets and it was a great way for everyone to get to know each other and get our Ibiza party heads well and truly on. Thanks VIVA see you next year?

The following day we were hosting an all day Beach party at the Orange Corner in San Antonio from 2pm -1am so with some very sore heads we set off for the onslaught ahead. With the full group in attendance the Orange corner got the full Hocus Pocus and Disco Dirt treatment. The music during the day suited the setting perfectly with some blissfully Balearic house to get your groove on to and a more party ethos once the sun had set. It’s fair to say the Orange Corner has never seen a party go off like that before.

Before you know it was Monday and a very well deserved day & night off for all. Some decided to take the opportunity to chill out, rest & recuperate others heartier saw the chance to go Clubbing and hit the Islands respected nights.

Tuesday brought our BIG event of the trip hosting the Funky Room in EDEN for Garlands from 2-6am. Once a few had hit the Ibiza Rocks event with Calvin Harris & Example (check the piccies & video footage of Example wearing the Disco Dirt wrist band) it was time to meet up at VIVA before a parade of Hocus Pocus & Disco Dirt banners led around 30 of us through the West End to EDEN. VIP access and a most elegantly dressed venue saw a lot of excited people venture in awaiting the party to get started. Once in our room it got the full Decor set up and the DJ’s hit the decks with some fantastic Back 2 Back sessions. This is one party neither Clubbers nor DJ’s will ever forget. We had EDEN Dancers & the most amazing lighting & smoke machine, a great, great night.

Wednesday had no let up for us. After the disappointment of the originally planned “Slip back in time” night being cancelled for the season, Nicky Lar had a set arranged for him at Bay bar between 11-12pm and the Hocus Pocus and Disco Dirt crew were hosting the newly opened EGG BAR once the Clubland Pre-party had finished. So between 12.30 and 4am we did our thing only this time to a more commercial beat which everyone seemed to enjoy (looking at the pictures), including the venue owner and promoter who offered us a return gig on the Friday night.

The following day was another chance to relax or hit the islands clubs as suited.

Finally the week brings us to our Closing / Pool party at the amazing venue that is Kanya on the Friday. We started proceedings early at 12pm and managed to be offered an extended finish time of 7-30pm (many thanks to Will for all). This was a very hot day indeed, some say around 35C and I could not disagree. Fortunately the pool was there to help those that needed to cool down the opportunity to do so. Kanya was as expected packed out and a great vibe was running all day right up until we finished and reluctantly handed the decks back. Some headed back out for one last session others took the evening steady, weary that the next morning was due to start early to head home.

It’s fair to say that things were a lot calmer on the plane back than on the way out, but to be expected. An awful lot of talk about a return trip with Hocus Pocus & Disco Dirt next year was had to which we all agreed was a great idea. So keep your eyes peeled for information coming out in the next few months.

It just leaves us to thank each and every one of you who booked up on the trip as clubbers and DJ’s. We know you all got out of the trip everything you expected if not a whole heap more and of course to the venue owners, managers & resident DJ’s, very big thanks for all your help, support and commitment it was very much appreciated and hope to do more with you in the future.

The Uk return...
So were back in the UK and what better way to shake of the Ibiza Blues than a damn good shin dig, with a load of mates, some great Ibiza tunes and a legendary DJ in the shape of Allistair Whitehead Oh go on then! Friday 16th July saw a gathering of the masses at an event promoted by Emphasisdj.com & Hocus Pocus hosting “The Boudoir” with our resident DJ’s Nicky Lar, Tweakalizer & Brendan P dropping all the bombs that Ibiza had been witness to the previous week.
Upstairs in Studio 79 Emphasis DJ’s held the fort until legend Allistair Whitehead hit the decks dropping a great Tech House set much to our surprise and going down a treat with all.

So keep checking back for details as they become available.
That just leaves us to say many, many thanks yet again to all of you for your support without you all this would mean nothing so cheers for keeping us doing what we love to do.

See ya on a dance floor soon.

Much Love and respect the Hocus Pocus crew.
