DSIbiza: Part 1: Tiesto

Tiesto. They don’t come much bigger than this. I’ve been interviewing DJs now for some two months now and already I’ve hit the heights of interviewing the world’s biggest. To say I’m under pressure would be completely false however. I’m simply ignoring it.

for a lot of people music has become this kind of fashion statement rather than something they love in their hearts

I need a full system to listen to music but a lot of people don’t seem to care.

something I've thought about a lot lately. people are getting used to these low bit rates and these tinny speakers. a lot of people don't have a clue what they're favourite tunes are supposed to sound like.

Who the hell was she looking at every 5 seconds ? If I was Tiesto I would of slapped her one.

Nice interview Jack (again).

Sexy bitch

Who the hell was she looking at every 5 seconds ? If I was Tiesto I would of slapped her one.

She was probably contractually only allowed to poke Tiesto once every 5 secs with that magnificent schnoz and had to turn away to avoid being sued.

Excellent - like him or hate him, he made a few good points. (But enough about me, ho ho.) In particular, this:

Yeah, for me vinyl sounds so much richer than CDs. I think however that the new generation just don’t care, they listen to music on their phones, or on their laptops with those little speakers.

reminded me of Bill Drummond's latest take on music today:

guardian.co.uk

Somehow, all recorded music, no matter where it is in the world, even if it's from the pre-recorded music era, once it had been sucked into being recorded music and you're listening to a two-dimensional thing, that can be listened to anywhere any time while you're doing almost anything. In my head it's all become this one thing that's fast draining of meaning. Once an artform loses its meaning, it no longer has any real value."

Kats meets Drummond anyone?
