BBC RADIO 1 CLASS TENERIFE ALONGSIDE WORLDS BEST FOR LIVE SHOWS
Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd June 2007
Tramps, Starco, Playa de las Américas, Arona

People of Tenerife can rejoice! After years of hard work and passion for making Tenerife number one, who would have thought after years of stiff competition from destinations such as Ibiza and Ayia Napa that the island would be chosen by the worlds number one broadcaster.

Building up to the reputation of Tenerife’s premier music venue, Tramps accepts recognition from the BBC and accepts the appreciation of the British public as it brings its premier radio station and 10.55 million listeners tuning into the island.

From its humble beginnings as a disco pub, Tramps grew to become a firm favourite with tourists and residents alike and by the mid 1990´s the clubs popularity was so great that the management realised that a much larger venue was needed.
The year 2000 was to be a turning point for Tramps and Tenerife clubbing in general.
After an extensive refurbishment, Tramps reopened its doors with a venue providing the highest quality clubbing and most breathtaking technology ever seen in Tenerife. The biggest, most modern state of the art superclub in Las Americas was open and Tramps 'The King of Clubs' was reborn.
One of the most famous DJ´s in the world at that time was Jeremy Healy. His debut appearance in Tramps led to many more of the worlds top DJs following and each summer saw DJs such as Judge Jules, Fergie, Tall Paul, Danny Rampling, Alex P, Brandon Block, John Kelly, Anne Savage, Lisa Lashes, John 00 Fleming, Lisa Pin Up plus many more playing in the club. Clubbing brands Slinky and Godskitchen also held summer residencies at Tramps on top of a one off appearance by world superclub Ministry of Sound placing Tramps firmly on the map, not only in Tenerife but throughout the UK.
This summer, life's a beach on Radio 1...

On 14th July, Radio 1's Six Weeks of Summer is set to kick off in style. Anyone who hasn't booked their summer holiday has no need to worry as Radio 1 will be embarking on a whistle stop tour of the hottest holiday locations over the next 6 weeks. Each weekend the station will be staging a massive event from a different party hot-spot, which will be broadcast live on Radio 1. Confirmed presenters include Chris Moyles, Scott Mills, Jo Whiley and Edith Bowman, but listeners will have to tune in to the Chris Moyles show to find out who is going where and what they'll be up to.

Alongside the mighty Global Gathering festival, Mallorca, Zante, Ibiza and Brighton, for the first time ever Tenerife will also be hosting the top party weekend between Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July 2007. Taking the role of host will be none other than Starco´s King of Clubs – Tramps where live broadcasts intermixed with off air events will take place between 1pm and 6am on Saturday and 3pm and 6am on Sunday.

History will be made over the summer weekend as the arrival of the UK´s number one station will become a first from not only Tramps but for the whole of Tenerife making the summer of 2007 one to remember.

The 2000 capacity venue located in the heart of Tenerife clubland. It is the island’s most popular nightclub and was voted as one of the worlds best dance clubs by the BBC station in 2005. The Arona superclub comprises of three rooms - 20 Degrees, The Main Arena and new for 2007, “The Blue Room” which caters for the more discerning clubber with an intimate atmosphere decorated with stylish décor, intelligent lighting a large array of plasma screen televisions surrounding the club walls.

With some of the worlds top mix masters headlining the weekend, the event is set to rival those from locations such as Miami, Tokyo and Ibiza and at a much more realistic and affordable cost of only 15€ per day compared to the 50€ which would be typically charged by Tramps´ world competitors.

The full line up will be announced on air on Tuesday 17th July by BBC presenter Chris Moyles.
