Hands In The Air All Night Long!!!!
I don't know where to start really, this was truly one of those nights that only come around every 10 years or so if you're lucky!!

At around 6pm a terrific wind blew up a storm on Bophut beach, Koh Samui and our hearts sank into our feet!
Months of planning for this New Year Extravaganza looked doomed to be a washout but with so much positive energy from everyone around us, that was never going to be the case!

By 7pm the storm had blown over and the skies cleared!
Richie La Rue warmed things up nicely before surprise guest Jo Mills got on and twisted things up!

The door was now very busy and the dance floor was hotting up as Lisa Loud and my good self jumped into the booth for 2hrs of back to back madness!

It was the first time I had played a couple of my new tracks "She's Hardcore" and "Mashes 2 Mashes" and it was great to see everyone going mad for them!!

The floor was now in a frenzy as we hit midnight and Danny had given me a wicked New Year version of Guitarar G to play as the year turned and fireworks lit the sky!!

The crowd were now ready for the main man himself and as the right honourable Mr Rampling stepped into the booth the whole place went completely bonkers!!!!
It was at that point I thought...
"Oh dear, this is gonna be one of those nights!"

And so it was! That Sweaty Shoomy underground vibe recreated in one of the most beautiful locations in the world!

Tune after tune.. new and classic but never in the slightest bit cheesy!! There was a sense of de ja vu about the vibe as people remembered the days when it all started!

There were people of all ages joining together singing, shouting, whistling, making one of those "hair stand on end" feelings and so it went on and on. When the sun finally rose and you could see the joy on on people's faces it was very emotional moment! Then eventually it had to happen... Danny's Final Tune of a truly outstanding career!

There was a pause.... a massive cheer, then he dropped it...
Oasis' "Don't Look Back In Anger" (acoustic version) and the place erupted into chorus "Slip inside the eye of your mind..."
Every hand was in the air and every voice could be heard!!

What more can I say...

Let's give a big hand to Danny Rampling... A True Legend !!!

Thankyou to Malibu, Tongsai Bay Hotel and Channel V for their support and to Lisa Loud and my mate Livy for all their help and most of all to my beautiful wife Noi, who without none of this would have been possible!

Thankyou

Big Love
Gary X

Gary - thanks to you and all the staff (plus Mr Rampling of course) for a truly awesome night. I am sitting here playing Hardfloor's "Acperience", looking at your photos (where I've been "spotted" a few times!) and it's all coming back. Absolute quality the whole night. Well done and hope to get back there soon.

Just looking at your pix now (btw, you can add new photos to your existing galleries - photo mod hat on!)

Hi Gary...is there any chance you can give me a version of the track I heard you had created. I was at your place start of the year...The tune was something about a whore (sorry can't remember more but it was truly fantastic. Even a snippet would be good so I can get it in my head again. Hope your well and feeling generous!

Sorry been ..(what's the word for it?) decapitated?, no sorry... incapacitated for a few days due to the bender with Knighty, Loudy and Clive at last weekends sunday sesh!
Good news though, 'She's Hardcore' is being signed by Toolroom records and you're on the list to get a promo copy as soon as they're available (which won't be long by the way) CD or Vinyl?

All the best
Gary

Gary - I'm not a DJ - just one of the customers! an MP3 by email would be fine for me, or CD.

Nik have you emailed Gary your snailmail address for the vinyl to be posted to? I guess he wont be flying over specially for a personal delivery however welcome he would be made by us!

Decapitated was probably closer to the mark remembering New Years with you lot!

Thanks for a fab time, didn't see this thread sooner or else I would have said hi. Had a fantastic time over there despite the loss of my bag that night at Sound and having to board the plane home with a plastic carrier bag and a paper passport...oops. Say thanks to Noi as well for ringing the staff there the following day to see if they'd found anything - what a star.

Oh and have to mention - that marathon set you played when we got back from Sound that day was by far and away the best afterhours mix i've ever heard and/or am likely to hear. Fucking ACE.

Hopefully be over again in the not too distant future.

Jenni x
