Al Storm - The great Highly Charged 50-000 Volts Interview (Ahead of High Voltage 22nd of August 2009)

The next High Voltage is a very special party,it holds this vibe for a few good reasons!...

For starters, the U.K's number one hardcore MC is booked and ready to blast the microphone up for the H.V crew! - Alongside one of the BEST producers and D.J's there is on our scene today....

The super D.J guest in question who Whizz Kid shall be hosting is extremely highly acclaimed in today's music scene and NOT just in the hardcore as he he mainly known...

I have about three copies of his track released on Rain Dance Records 'The Piano Track'... Moving with the times like no other, a first class producer for the U.K Hardcore, not to mention spear heading his talent at Rave Breaks, Drum & Bass and much - much more across the musical board!

Recently being signed to the mighty Raver Baby Records, with his own labels 24/7 & Warped Science flourishing nicely, this original producer and a dab hand at the remixes too... Knowing how to keep the vibe topps during his live D.J sets - all night long, creatively keeping the Science Warped - High Voltage proudly introduce to you:

How are you and how busy has your end of July / start of August been for you?

"Im good mate, have just moved house and got a temporary studio up, have been without one for the last 2 months so things are pretty hectic .. mixing the Hardcore Underground 4 album with Kutski , Next Gen podcast to do, endless mixdown's, paperwork, Bookings.. and trying to stop my kitten eating everything in sight .. so some serious multi-tasking going on!"

How busy have you been on the international circuit this year - in terms of playing out abroad? And which place has REALLY rocked it for you so far and why!?

"Australia at the end of last year was really good as usual, haven't really been out of here all that much this year, its getting harder and harder with my UK commitments to disappear off to the sun for a few weeks without causing me chaos back home so i'm keeping it all to a minimum, but saying that HTID in the Sun was excellent as usual, weather was great and the atmosphere was class again."

Sitting here in 2009 - times have obviously changed no end, since we have all started out.. What would you say has changed the most in today's production spec? Would you say it is easier to produce in today's climate!?

"The rise of software and powerful computers has definitely made things faster, and easier to access for everyone since the days of walls of full of rack gear and samplers with 10 second memory! (old fucker) but its also made it easy for everyone to sound similar to everyone else, sometimes the only thing separating people is the mixdown's and the processing applied, which isn't a bad thing as it forces us all to try and step up the game a bit!"

On this note what words of advice would you offer any young inspiring up and coming producer / D.J!?

"Stick at it and try and be unique or add your own touch to things, but within the boundaries of what works on the dancefloor .. copying peoples sound wont really help you breakthrough, unless your really as good as them, you'll just sound like a poorer version of them! it can take a long time for people to catch onto your sound, years sometimes .. things rarely happen overnight with music but are worth it when they do!"

Can you please tell us a little more (mainly for the heads that may not have heard!) - about your recent signing with the mighty Raver Baby!!! - Congratulations by the way! How did this come about!???

"haha thanks .. its been half sorted out for a while now, me & Hixxy spoke about this a year or so ago and slowly planned towards it all and now things are starting to move in the right direction, so its all official now as of HTID In The Sun .. myself, Technikore, and MC's Statik and Enemy have all been signed up (and possibly a few others on the way) basically ill be splitting my tracks between Raver Baby and 24/7 .. that way it keeps the releases flowing and relieves the build up of tracks, as i go through phases of churning them out by the tonne sometimes and not everything i do will suit RB, will be a lot of work between us all and the rest of the RBC, more details will appear soon enough so i don't want to let all the info go! you'll have to wait and see" ;)

You have worked with virtually EVERY hardcore face in the scene so far! -Is there ANY one who you would really like to make a track with - but haven't had the chance yet!!??...

"Probably Darren Styles, everything he touches seems to turn to gold, and Gammer .. technically he's brilliant."

Will there be any absolute - EXCLUSIVES - that Al Storm will be airing on the night of High Voltage on the 22nd of August..? - Any that you can share with us please...!?;);)

"There may be a few .. depends what I can finish up in time plenty of things on the go! Maybe a sneaky remix of Scotty mcBrown's 'All About You' if i get it finished in time!"

What words of encouragement and enthusiasm can you shout out to the High Voltage ravers to rally them to the dance floor!!!?

"haha im sure Whizzkid will find plenty for me.. he's the master at it!"

Do you have a a favoured beverage that you hope The Angel's bar have in stock for you, to loosen the musical chords up before you go on!?...;)

"haha Water! .. im a bit old and sensible now" :P .. (most of the time)

Kebab or Pizza?... Why!??:)

"Pizza .. dominos .. garlic & herb dip .. win!"

*Hmmmmnn... I seem to remember another top hardcore selector enjoying this too...Super -Supreme??!- Not to worry its a D.J thing!..;)

Your time in the scene you undoubtedly have seen many sights, many faces and wicked places!!! If you can - do you have any funny stories (that are allowed to ne shared JUST before the watershed..) involving any other hardcore members???- *The bigger the status the better!!!;);)

"ha ha .. there may be a few but somethings are best left unsaid"... :P
