I wasn’t going to do this but fuckin hey its HARDCORE and it was a birthday party…

I arrived at Mr Sparkles for almost bang on 7.00 O’clock and after receiving a text of the legend that is Lyrical Groover MC informing me that he was on the train behind me I made my way to the nearest cash machine to sort the evenings funds out…




Lyrical soon walked passed and after shouting at him in the street it was back to the bangin shop on the corner to buy some sunglasses, I forget my classic red pair - it was a verry hot evening and I like the look of shades any how- they also come in verry useful after the beers kick in..;);)

The deal was that we were all to meet at Sparkle Studio and jet off for 9.00pm when the infectious Al Rave Machine was due to kick the night off in H.V style!


Both in shades and new designer gear (Lyrical more than me- he’s richer..);) we made our way to Sparkles rather looking like a better looking pair of the Blues Brothers!!!!!…

Our dazzling and wicked, awesome, totally top talented producer, the one like Prospect was already there, after the greetings and big ups we settled down to a quick beer and can of Wrongbow, and the clock was just past 7.00pm by now and no show from the Rave Machine…About 7.10pm and we get contact - Rave Machine is at Tufnell Park and wont be here for another 10 minuets…OH SHIT!- He’s meant to be on at 9.00...



It turned out that he’d done a hardcore classic. ..He left his without his head phones and went all the way back to get them!- Bless- we have all done this at some point!!! You just have to remember you can always borrow another pair- mostly!!!!..;)

After a spell on the motor way, we made it into Bedford in very good time. Getting directions from Maria & Bernzi we arrived at the club just after 9.00pm. Top stuff once again from Mr Sparkle, keeping calm on the roads each and every.

We were meeted and greeted by the birthday girl her self, Miss Detonate on the door all wrist banded up we made our way into the club, Lady Brock was there with some of her crew and they had jut set the live stream for Narcotic Radio ..I hadn’t known much about this but knew that it would give a brand new twist to the night if nothing else…(TRUE H.V Style!);)

A couple of months ago I had taken a listen to Alexx Rave Machines new demo that he had mixed for the summer time- it is EXTREMELY GOOD! - Since he has played out I have had the opportunity to host many of his London sets, he’s always kept it together and mixed down a good well structured set. He had told me in the car that he would be playing a upfront set this time round as opposed to his usual Finergy and free form set. Bernzi on the mic Alexx took flight and well - jaws dropping all over- simply WoW!!!!!!! A perfect blend of vocal hardcore- without the big Ballard style vocals- it really was another proud moment to see this guy mix a set of such confidence and quality. Rave Machine has recently been in the studio and was able to play his brand new tune for his last one. We ALL said he did an amazing set- he did himself and the H.V crew extremely proud- big up bro!


A true regular at High Voltage - also created a track with the birthday girl- Society- James Dub seems to always raise his game every time on the decks, left no exception once again… Clean cut mixing his way through party style, rolling bass lines of the hardcore sounds amped up by the vocal talents of MC Merlin, another High Voltage favourite!! Sid P & Philma in attendance it was all good in the H.V hood!
James’s set was a pure roller, and I was bouncing about all over the place, and big up’s to Bernzi himself for supplying the beer- top stuff bro: "I bet you drink Carling Black Label"….!;)FPMSL!
Half way through J.D’s set I was gas bagging in the smoking area, (many a story is told here, also the most random photos are taken too..check it out!!!..) and all of a sudden I heard: The Robot dropped in by Hattrixx!!!OH MY DAAAAAYS!- EVERY TIME for me this tune goes off I just have to have it!!! Bouncing like the bunny about to get his eggs all in one, it was total respect time for the Dub maister!!!
Once again a top set which did second set total hardcore justice. Nice one!

Next up on the High Voltage famous wheels of steel, it was one of my favourite D.J’s - the lady who made it possible for you to hear us in full 3D-for your ear live stream, in fact- she made your stream come true…..Lady Brock, who has been super busy this year playing all over the place at top style events! Sid P and Philma attacked well once again working back to back with Merlin on a three way mic tip- Lady Brock played some nice free Form sounds to mellow the 3rd minds eye, as I sipped my third beer with maximum summer time style with a smile! Then out of know where - some drum & bass was switched in the mix and oh yes! - It was verry good indeed, ever growing on her musical journey Lady Brock is an unstoppable mixing force that we most defiantly wont ignore in the hardcore!!!!!




Absolutely loving it to the max, and having a good catch up with fellow Hit squad members- Peaks, Pinnacle and D.J Sonik the vibe was stirring, along with the beer and after Lady Brock’s super star set what a better way to follow it up than by: History Of Hardcore’s Insane & Mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
NEVER Disappointing, these guys are HAPPY hardcore- s’ what I come for!!!;) Playing a totally upfront set, it really clicked with vocals all over from Quosh to Raver Baby - it was all hardcore gravy!!! It has to be noted: MC El B was hosting this set, he totakly sMaShEd it!!! Keeping the microphone along with the hardcore FULLY CHARGED!….El B has one of the strongest voices I have heard, combining this with well structured crowed hype and original lyrics, he is a really GOOD MC!
Mr Sparkle and myself had had a conversation saying if they didn't play Alabama then we would!- There it was like magic!!!- Personaly I LOVE THIS TRACK!!!- Big up Rampant! Yes it went off once again..Wicked style Insaine & Mind!: )
Insane came with the rewind and then before we knew it was gone mid night and it was Hit Squad time!…





Sonik was first up in the head phones, and he out of all of us was super buzzing about this night - he has had work troubles just recently too and it has made him have to cut down on going out, so this was his first time out since the last High Voltage event- he was hyped! Kicking us off with a wicked intro track I boosted out a solid intro for us too and after Sir Greg Peaks gave a thunderous BiG up to Bernzi & Little Miss Detonate nicely done Greg man!! The crew on the floor started to move…!
Greg Peaks was second up and oh boy was he ready to explode the crowed..We have affectionately given him the title of: Hit Squad number 1 as his mixing is pin point - whether it be in a studio or out live- he creates a vibe.. Entering with just that, a formidable mix if there ever was one.. Followed up by a deep Free Form break, I really felt this breaking the style from up front to Free Form - the perfect blend. Then - the man who’s booking it was!- Mr Sparkle back by popular demand!- d.j Exceeds Bullet Proof remix ALWAYS going down for the heads, it’s kind of been turned into our anthem and again it went off like a caramel in a chocolate factory! Myself on the mic duties for my crew, it was all good. A nice lot of shouts were coming up for the Narcotic crew, I remember Narcotic Zoe and Ken Masters going out big up guys glad you stayed locked!
This night brought faces that I have known for a while from I first started raving, Charlie & James were raving inside- and it was big shouts out to the RaveiN Eye! -OIOI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The set went really well with the Hit Squad 3 rotating nicely! Pinnacles track went off again, like the Prospect cuts too- THANK YOU!;)






Once again - and I do say this every High Voltage write up…Time had totally flown by….Saying hello to him a bit earlier on looking over to the right side of the stage MC Mitch with his Bonkers Gem was ready to shine X-Treme Energy style!
And again - Wilfiee C steps up taking it up yet another level, mate where on earth do you get your tunes from!??? Bass line rollers all over. I remember a version of ‘Good By Summer Time ’ being played amazing! Smooth mixing from the off, and MC Mitch what can we say? - The guy is the future once again. High energy lyrics to accompany the music I thought to myself I wonder if I’ll ever go back to back with him? The crowed were totally buzzin by now, I took a little time out to speak to an old friend of mine who I first started raving with back in my day;) Big ups to Kaine, Trev & Trevs lady GOOD TO SEE Yas! I have to throw this in too..There was a jilted MC there too, mate I feel for you bruv - but there’s no point in coming out and taking it out on people like myself and Mitch by making gestures at us from the floor- next time do ya self a favour: DO STAY IN or SORT IT OUT! (big up to Barry who put me in the hardcore picture - see you soon bruvva!);)





After this TOP flight set it was your promoters turn and the birthday girl Miss Detonate, hosted by our very own Lyrical Groover MC equipped in brand new G Star Raw top nice one bruvvva!
Another wicked intro, stream fully live for the Narcotic Radio it was full raving steam ahead and all systems go! I needed some proper air and onece again made my way in to the smoking area (air-smoking???) To be honest I NEVER go in the smoking areas for the simple fact that it is too light..But I was loving it this time! I had a good chat with Peaks and Sparkle then got properly chatting with Mitch top man!(BiG Up Peggsy too!) James Dub then came and got me and I took over from L.G as he needed some air too!!!!
- I never say 'no' to a Bernzi & Detonate set, we have been working on and off from early this year, and our vibe is a good one so on we roll!





Bernzi was on the mixer laying down some new Twista records, the crowed were jumping and again the shouts came through to the Narcotic crew.Miss Detonate took over and I got every one to shout out ‘Happy Birthday!’ - It had to be done;) All of a sudden Mitch was by the side of the mic again, and we started going back to back!!!! YEEEAHHH! Our styles worked smoothly together, and the ravers gave a good reaction too. This was TOTALLY unexpected and unplanned and for me it was an honour to get this chance to work side by side with one of the best up and coming MC’s our scene has to offer.
I hope that I get the chance to MC with Mitch again some time in the future soon… Please watch out next year at some point for an exclusive interview/feature with the MC himself, coming to a magazine & web site near YOU!….;);)

Mitch took a brief break and I got the mighty Philma to jump on as well. Mitch returned and we went 3 ways on th mic light for a bit - then I jumped off and let them finish the birthday set!!! Jumping on - jumping off it’s like a fair ground ride…! Sadly Al Storm and Whizzkid were a little late but the main thing was that they still made it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!





For a final set you really couldn’t have asked for more. Al Storm kicked right off with his cheeky remix from Scotty Mc Brown (see interview!) WHAT an intro of: NOW IS THE TIME!!! WoW! I think Philma gave Al a raptuous intro and him and Mitch, in fine style held it down untill Mr W came in!;)- Whizzkid arrived and the hype of the whole night totaly just blewup!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The set was un questionably first class by ANY hardcore standards, Al Storm selecting his way through brand new Raver Baby and his 24/7 label accompanied by the U.K’s number one hardcore MC, every one jumping and joining in with his lyrics simply -AWSOME!-
I helped Mr Sparkle at the Preston front on Epidemik flyer duties, but I HAD to go back to catch the last bit of their set. Al took us up with Whizzkid for an extra ten minuets and sadly - YET AGAIN the night was over…

So once again High Voltage TOTALLY pulled it out the hardcore bag, for you the crew, a few faces were missing due to other events being staged too at different places in the U.K but as they say classicly: ‘I’ll be back!!!’ - Remember that, and its September the 26th that you shall be put back in the H.V mix, so be there don’t be rare, its each and every time a High Voltage party is ONE TOP hardcore affair!……………………………...

I’d like to show an extra appreciation to the promoters once again just like Sir Greg Peaks did on the night, to Maria & Paul for continually staging events of a good nature. To each & every raver get down to an H.V event as SOON as you can man, it’s wicked and on top!

Was an awesome night and the stream worked so well all thank to the man himself Double t (oli). It was his sound engineering that mad eit all possible as he brought two laptops a dongle and mics for the crowd noise it couldn't have been achieved without him!

The night has been broken down into mixes and Oli has built a mini site but all will be revealed shortly a little more work to be done.

It will be osted on a certain website which I may have some exciting news about later as well. Ohh exciting stuff eh?

Next HV will again be streamed live but this time form te white noise crew Double T will be playing and you got to check this guy out his mixing skills are astonishing.

Seriuosly get ya arses to the next one lol
