WOW. There's kind of "standard" photos in AIR but I've never seen a pic taken like that... Is it looking at the main stage? any effects etc?

Thanks for the compliments!

The photo was taken directly into the laser on the right hand side of the DJ stage whilst standing on the back podium stage. I use a manual setting for all my night/clubbing photos.

To be honest, when I looked at the photos I was very surprised by this one too. I totally agree, there are a "standard" set of photos at AIR, I just keep trying to get something different - job done ;-) I tend not to put the laser ones online any more due to the "samey" factor, and yes I did take a lot that night!

Here's another that turned out better than I thought. It was taken of someone with a glowstick. Little did I know it would end up looking like the GK logo!

Wow yeah @ that link, it does a bit!
What camera do you use for this "manual" setting? and what was Danny Howells like? :)

The camera I use is a Canon Ixus 55, which is already outdated - only bought last Nov. Hmm, took a lot of playing around with the settings, but turned off most of the features and set some slow shutter speed - makes it very difficult in a club when you are moving or being nudged, but hey, it'd be boring if it just worked. I'm at work @ moment so not exactly sure of settings. Camera is not mine, it's a family members, so I'm looking at the new Ixus 800 - v. cool :-)

Danny was realy good, though the rest of the time I spent in the Carbon Lounge - more fun. I could be a little biased as I love his GU CDs, including the 24:7. Didn't seem to be many people that night, bit disappointing, hence, more photos taken in lounge than main room.

I'm praying I can get a digital SLR before the end of May....... *everything crossed* I want it in time for the Hi-Fi festival!

Cool! Hope you get it in time.
I was lucky enough to borrow a Canon S2 digital SLR last year from Canon via a friend to take to Glasto - this was amazing compared to compacts, especially sitting on top of the hill facing the pyramid stage and using the 12x optical zoom to take photos. Yep, would love an SLR too, but sometimes too bulky, especially on a normal clubbing night :(

Okay, sorry to go all technical, but here are my settings:

  • Flash = Off OR Slow Synchro
  • AiAF = Off
  • AF-assist Beam = Off
  • Long Shutter = On
  • Digital Zoom = Off (how it always should be!!!)
  • AWB = Auto
  • Effect = Off

On the Long Shutter there is a sub menu off the Exposure settings and mine is set to 1" (do not know what that means!)
