Sander Kleinenberg is a name synonymous with good quality music. His early Four Seasons EP featuring the massive Progressive Trance smasher 'My Lexicon' was widely acclaimed as one of the seminal albums of the early millenium. Following this Sander was invited to mix a 'Nu Breed' album for Global Underground which again gained worldwide recognition for this fast rising Dutch superstar. Since then Sander has gone on to gain residencies the world over, from Pacha in Ibiza to Avalon in LA to Ministry Of Sound in London and headline some of the top festivals in the world including the infamous Sensation White.

We took 5 minutes with the man himself to gain a little insight into what makes him tick!

1) WHERE DID YOU WAKE UP THIS MORNING?
I’m in New York City. Saving the economy one record at a time...?

2) WHO DID YOU LAST RECEIVE A TEXT FROM AND WHAT DID IT SAY?
From my bank manager saying please don’t buy!!

3) WHICH PRODUCERS ARE DOING IT FOR YOU AT THE MOMENT AND WHO ARE YOU TIPPING FOR THE TOP IN 2009
Argh… there are so many great ones. Let me see… Sis is rockin, Dubfire is rockin, Funkagenda is hot, Martin Buttrich is going strong, Sebo K, Smith & Selway. Ooh man, it’s an army.?

4) HAVE YOU EVER GOT TO A GIG AND REALISED YOU HAVE BROUGHT THE WRONG RECORDS?
Most of the time when I play a show, I always come back thinking it could have been better. It’s a never ending journey that a DJ embarks on. I’m always shaping, moulding, and re-inventing what I do musically, which is what makes me tick.

5) WHAT ANNOYS YOU MOST WHEN YOU ARE DJ-ING??
A record that sounded great on the plane or in the studio, sounding bad in a club sound system.

6) WHICH IS YOUR FAVOURITE COUNTRY TO PLAY IN??
It changes all the time. I enjoyed the Ibiza season this year very much. Doing the Friday at Pacha without Pete was a pretty daunting move, but I’m proud of the result. It was a great season.

7) WHAT'S YOUR TOP MIDNIGHT NYE TRACK??
Brand New Day by the Wizz Kids (from the musical the Wizard of Oz).

8) WHAT'S THE CAPITAL OF AUSTRALIA?
I believe its Canberra… I swear I didn’t look this up, so I could be wrong.

9) WHAT DO YOU ASK FOR ON YOUR RIDER??
You know simple stuff... world peace, a midget, a weather balloon, and lots of glass tubes (in all sizes).

10) WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF YOUR CAREER TO DATE?
I tend to not look back that much; it’s been a great ride so far.

11) WHAT WAS THE LAST LIE YOU TOLD??
I don’t ask for world peace on my rider, that was just a politically correct answer.

12) WHAT IS THE MOST EMBARRASSING MOMENT OF YOUR LIFE SO FAR??
I shat myself in Dubai airport after a rather legendary night out. It was rather embarrassing needless to say.

13) WHO IS YOUR FAVOURITE SPORTS PERSONALITY??
It’s got to be Maradona. I’ve heard some epic stories about him. Props to his recovery and new found path. That takes determination and balls, he’s got them.

14) HAVE YOU EVER LEFT A GIG WITH ANOTHER DJ'S RECORDS BY MISTAKE??
I hope not, but you never know… Hahahaha.

15) TEA OR COFFEE??
Coffee please no milk no sugar, and none of those fancy extras. Just black coffee in a mug, saying "SUPERDAD".

16) WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU CRIED?
My mother passed away recently. It was difficult to say the least. We helped her battle cancer for 18 months but it proved fatal. A time of grieving has started recently. I’m not going to lie about how much it hurts now and then, but I know she is with me on my travels and next to me when I’m DJ’ing, proud and happy.

17) WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM YOU AT GODSKITCHEN'S PIMPS & WHORES PARTY ON 25TH OCTOBER?
Ask not what a DJ can do for you, but what you can do for the DJ. I will provide the best possible soundtrack for a great night out. It’s up to you what to do with it.??

18)WHEN WERE YOU LAST NAKED IN FRONT OF ANOTHER PERSON??
This morning in my hotel room. The cleaning lady had a heart attack. I didn’t hear her while in the bathroom.

The next club I’m playing... always... everywhere…

22) WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN WORKING ON THIS YEAR AND WHAT IS NEXT FOR YOU?
Mostly touring and dealing with the relocation of my office and construction of my new studio in Amsterdam, where I also live. I have already started to work in the studio and things are going great. I have a million ideas to work on ranging from compilations, tracks, DVD's etc. I’ve been heavily promoting video dj-ing with Pioneer and their SVM 1000 which has been an amazing journey. Having started to video DJ 4 years ago and now seeing the world taking notice and people really getting into it is an amazing feeling. However all the work that’s gone in to that part of my career took me, among other things, away from the studio for a while. Now that things are set up, I can refocus on what I love most which is playing my own music with video added to the excitement of it all.

23) WHERE DO YOU HOLD RESIDENCIES AT THE MOMENT?
I hold a residency each summer in Ibiza at Pacha for the Pure Pacha Fridays. I’m also a resident at Ministry of Sound in London, Avalon in Los Angeles and Paradiso in Amsterdam.

24) WHAT WAS THE LAST ALBUM YOU BROUGHT?
I bought Lulu Rouges album (who’s from Denmark) which is amazing! Go buy it...

25) WILL YOU BE DRESSING UP FOR THE PIMPS & WHORES PARTY?
