2007 is set to be a HUGE year for Manchester's Mistress De Funk. Not only has she recently been crowned "Queen of Sankey's" after becoming the first female resident at the legendary Manchester club but she's now got her own show on International Radio One. We caught up with her to ask her all about it. DEUCE presents MISTRESS DE FUNK @ Cocoon March 23rd
Mistress De Funk speaks to Deuce By Adam-Deuce - Thu 15 Mar 2007 - 0 comments
Music : Jackin House, Electro House, Dirty House, Tech House, Minimal Techno, Funky Techno and Electro Techno
Deuce continue their regular events at Cocoon -Birmingham's new hidden subterranean gem. Expect an Eclectic Explosion of Electronic, Leftfield, Magically Minimal, Wierd & Wonky, Soiled, Subterranean House & Techno. This time we bring you a legend DJ in the making - MISTRESS DE FUNK (Sankeys & Radio One) Profile aka Emma Thompson, aged 23, from Manchester. She got her first residency at only aged 15 at Generation X in Manchester, playing trance/tough funky house. At 17, she held residencies at Venus and Emporia, and by 18 she was a regular guest on Manchester's Key 103 Saturday night show and had a residency at Hidden, Birmingham. Her sound matured and she started spinning at The Music Box, Sankeys Soap and the popular secret balls with Morillo, Ingrosso and Angello. She has played on the Privilege world tour, the Subliminal UK tour and the last two summers in Ibiza where she has residencies at Filthy Gorgeous, Coco Loco at Meganite and Filthy Mondays at Es Paradis. In 2006, she was made official resident at Sankeys, the first girl ever to do so. Her music is a winning combination of tech house, minimal and electro and she has played alongside and held her own with some of the best. She is also renowned for her energy and presence behind the decks and is sure to bring that to her slot on Radio 1’s ‘In New DJs We Trust’. www.myspace.com/mistressdefunk As if that wasn't enough we also extend a long awaited welcome for the first time in the UK to Honorary Brummie, ANDY PRICE www.myspace.com/djandyprice Plus residents MOGS www.myspace.com/mogs & LOU NATIQUE Attitude – Not coming for the Music?
