Interview With Cush ahead of Come Up's 1st Birthday

This article is about Come Up 1st Birthday @ Basement in Birmingham (UK), Sat 06 Oct 2007

How was your summer and what did Come Up get up to over the summer?

I spent the Majority of it in the Studio working on my own productions,
Its always been something i need to crack to take me to the next level if you like, I did get the oppurtunities to play at some pretty cool venues, most notably the Green Room in Chesterfield. The crowd they have got down their are strictly there for the music,Its a Cool little club with great people so yeah I'm looking forward to going back to the Green Room on the 22nd September when i will be playing for Bubble.

As for Come Up, we headed North to my hometown Blackpool for 2 events at Beat which was a real eye-opener for the people in Blackpool, There starved of quality underground music so it was nice to the appreciation we got.
Hopefully Come Up will be back in Blackpool again in 2008.

How does it feel to be doing nights back in Birmingham?

Its good, At times it's been hard work to launch Come Up in the Midlands,Many hours online doing the promotional work was probably the most tedious job involved, but now the foundations have been firmly set,
So we are looking forward to the 6th October in great anticipation.

Congratulations on Come Ups first birthday, how did your first year go?

Generally its all good, We've Heard some amazing sets from the likes of Jamie McHugh, Pedro Delgardo & a personal favorite set of mine would have to be Dj Zcoda's when he played for us @ Beat, Blackpool. Met many new freinds along the way and its a been a good learning curve that we will use to put towards an even better 2008 for Come Up

What did you discover about putting on clubnights during that time?

Its a bit of a rollercoaster, many ups many downs, But you learn from everything and make sure every night is always better than the last, Unfortunatly the weather hasent helped new nights this year and Many a weekend we've seen lots of people soaked to the bone for the love of the underground sound, but overall we can't complain as we have been consistently good wherever we have played.

What have you got lined up for your returning night?

Were bringing back what we think are the best 2 dj's that have ever played for Come Up,
Jamie McHugh played for us @ Cocoon in March, And the response was huge, Jamie has been really impressive this year with his productions & his massive remixes so he was penicilled in almost straight after his set.
Dj Zcoda from London also gets the thumbs up, His smooth mixes & funky Electro/Breaks was the main highlight of our nights in Blackpool, Were really excited about bringing them back to play on the same night.

What have you got lined up over the next year?

6) Hopefully i will have some end products to my own productions in the next coming months,I'm Also going to be ditching my ever faithful Mk5G's, I'm Still undecided which path to take yet, but which ever it is to be there will always be new technology so its probalby always going to be case of keeping up with the new stuff thats available.
As for Come Up were hopefully going to expand on what we have already and go and cause some more mayhem in other citys.
