This is a daytime event (e.g. starts late morning or early afternoon - see below for times).

Annual Gay Pride event in Birmingham. =)

The Pride Festival kicks off at 3pm on Saturday in the heart of the Village with a Community Launch Event.

The Lord Mayor will open Pride 2008 with an event showcasing community groups including Rainbow Voices supported by big name acts on the Main Stage. Although this year there is no parade, all the colour and atmosphere will be retained with street performers and dancers throughout the area.

Come rain or shine, we've got the festival covered - literally! There are large areas of street coverage so if the heavens open, there's still plenty of dry drinking space, plus we have a full undercover market.

The roads around Hurst Street will be closed to traffic for the weekend to make way for vibrant entertainment, market stalls, community information and activities. Several key roads will be tented and there will be a large indoor market and community area located on Hurst Street to ensure everyone can enjoy the weekend, whatever the weather. There will be tents and marquees, including beer tents, cabaret tents and a women’s area.

There will be a fairground located behind the Hurst Street car park providing rides and entertainment for all ages. Local bars and restaurants are supporting the festival and will be offering refreshments for attendees, as well as providing evening entertainment for revellers wishing to continue celebrating until the early hours.
