Friday 2nd of November Break Thru brings you a very special night of music from two dances music's biggest names of DJ ZINC and DYNAMITE MC.
(Tickets just £5!)
DJ ZINC
A Part of pirate radio screen since the early 90's, Zinc shot to the top of dnb tree with two of the most memorable tracks of the decade; the hip hop infused "Super Sharp Shooter" and his legendary remix of the fugees "Ready or Not". He set up the "True Playaz" label with stable mates Hype and Pascal and shortly after they began residency at The End club London before moving to Fabric where they still reside today.
Zinc's records have always been a hybrid of sounds and he has never been affraid of new directions or genre's. He took the garage world by storm in 2000 with his '138 Trek' which even became a Top 30 hit. His debut album "Faster" in 2003 showcased the huge span of his musical skills with tracks ranging from break beat to drum and bass from 75 to 175 bpm.
Most recenly he set up his own Bingo records on which he's released dnb, breaks and most recenlty dub step with his remix of dub step's man of the moment Skream's "Late Night Request"
Zinc's skills as a dj are undeniable, he's been voted in the top 3 drum and bass djs for the past two years. He has been chosen to font several mix cd's and this month see's the release of "Watch The Ride" on harmless records.
DYNAMITE MC
The magnetic brilliance of front man Dynamite MC began developing with his childhood influences spanning early Motown, and reggae. Later drawn to fledgling hip hop and house clubs, by the time rave and drum & bass broke he was already deeply absorbed by the scene. A natural on the mic, he met Roni Size and Krust in a club in '93 who, impressed by the way Dynamite captured the attention of the crowd, Size asked him to accompany some early DJ sets and he rapidly became a part of the Full Cycle experience.
Dynamite became an integral part of the Roni Size Reprazent live experience, perfecting a dynamic live juxtaposition with singer Onallee. He headed the first 2 singles from Reprazent's In the Mode album Who Told You and Dirty Beats, both Top 20 hits in the charts. Subsequently releasing his debut album The World of Dynamite on his own label Strong Records to do so. Using the cream of producers from drum'n'bass (Roni Size, Zinc, Andy C, Marky) through to hip-hop (Stone, Skitz) and fellow vocalists MC Skibadee and Jamiacan dancehall artist Elephant Man, The World of Dynamite was a landmark for UK urban music and garnered fantastic reviews on release in 2004.
Dynamite MC is one of the worlds top live MC's, touring the world with Roni Size, Gilles Peterson, Scratch Perverts, Zinc and Marky as well as doing his own shows.
For this set Zinc & Dynamite will be pooling their considerable talents to take us through a BPM experience of drum and bass, breaks and dub step. Freestyle!
We also have some very special sets from Break Thru residents Skitty and Aries.
Midlands Metal Headz mistro Skitty will be performing his latest indulgance picked up on his US travels "Baltimore". A heady mix of funk breaks samples.
Aries will be giving us a lesson in history with his mix of DnB, Dub Step and original Reggae samples.
Dan B & Reaction will be digging the crates of forgotten gems of dnb.
We are also joined on night by one of Dub Step's rising stars from React FM 1MANDJ
Showcasing their cutting edge talent in the Kitchen are the future stars of DnB, Shakk, Initial, Roscoe and Process
