MAGNETIC MAN MARCHES ON TO BIRMINGHAM

EAR DRUM returns Friday 7th of March with a very special performance from two of dubsteps biggest names. MAGNETIC MAN is a highly anticipated live project from SKREAM & BENGA.
The sounds of the Croydon pair have been almost inescapable for the past 12 months. Skream’s Midnight Request was seized upon by djs from across the electronic music world. It was released DJ Zinc’s acclaimed Bingo label, with Zinc’s own Drum and Bass remix helped feed what has become a steady cross pollination between the two already closely linked genres.

It’s a similar story for Night; Benga’s first release from his Diary of Afro Warrior album has been the sound track of 2008 so far. Again drum and bass remixes by Zinc and Shy FX & Breakage have blurred the boundaries of the two scenes with many dnb djs now playing dubstep in their sets.
Skream & Benga are keeping the full details of their performance tightly under the their belts but, we can reveal that as well as was involving live vocal and percussionists, there is also a strong visual element courtesy of fellow dubstep pioneer Artwork.

Also appearing on the night is the mighty NTYPE. NTYPE's heavyweight status was well and truly confirmed at this year’s Dubstep awards where he took BEST DJ 2007, BEST RADIO SHOW 2007 and CD OF THE YEAR 2007 (Dubstep Allstars Vol5) !

With Eardrum having hosted sister promotion Break Thru’s second room since 2006, Break Thru repays the favour on Friday with a launch party for local label Colab who celebrate the release of their Striaght Out The Lab LP.
A collaboration between Stourbridge’s Benny and London based HEIST who also forms Rufige Cru with dnb legend Goldie, Colab is a flourishing hot bed for the Jump Up sound that’s become sinominous with the Midlands. Guests on the night include LOMAX alongside label head honcho's HEIST, BENNY & ARIES, DY8, Stelf and MC PM!

If that wasn’t enough, there’s also a generous helping of Hip Hop from Bham collective Heducation who celebrate their 7th Birthday with very special guest DJ Switch (UK DMC Supremacy Champ 2007) alongside Barrowclough (Phantom Limb MCs) Xerxes (Tempo Tantrum, London) Mylz (Hedz Founder) Cro (New Style FM) Cola (Twelve-Ten Society DJ Champ) and Jonny Five (WOIB)

Enrty for this momentus event is just £5 for members or new members joing on the night with details completed on flyer
