INTERVIEW WITH MC LIVELEE, SCAR AND SAWYER.
ZINGARI: 21 YEARS OF WRONGNESS touches down at the Custard Factory, Birmingham in just 8 days!

Ahead of the ultimate birthday celebration, we caught up with three of the nights entertainers....

DJ SCAR - Scar has been a regular face on the hardcore scene both in the UK and abroad for several years now. Resident at Raindance, Tasty, amongst others, she is also one half of record label 'Raw Elements'.

As a female DJ, do you find you get the same opportunities as male DJ's, or is there any difference?

I’m a strong believer in the quote “hard work always pays off”. I have worked extremely hard to have had the opportunities I have had so far from djing all over the uk, over seas, co-running Raw Elements with Uplift and more recently starting to have vinyl releases. When I started performing I heard a comment about girls not belonging behind the decks but overall the majority of people have been supportive and encouraging. Everyday there are more ladies picking up the headphones, which is great to see especially in a male dominated DJ scene.

As an aussie native, you've played out not only in Australia, but also North American and Canada. How does the UK scene compare to theirs?

I’m proud to have grown up being a part of the Aussie rave scene, especially back in the day when the Sydney scene was strong and healthy. I’ve returned to Sydney to play on home turf, each time attending different parties from playing outdoors on the beach on Australia Day to djing at the Olympic grounds in a warehouse for Powerhouse. Its an amazing experience returning home as all my friends and family come out to party and support me.

I totally love the Canadian and North American Scene. I’ve noticed that it’s tight but full of close friendly ravers, promoters and djs who work together. Toronto is amongst my favourite places and I have made some amazing friends there. Ravers are up for anything from oldskool to cheesy vocals into the dark underground sounds. I strongly recommend travelling over there, and also to check out the French Canadian scene. Now that’s just a completely different experience all together. (heehee)

Though I love to travel and have partied around the world including Sweden and Amsterdam, nothing compares to the UK scene! This is definitely the place to rave it up and no where else in the world do we hear top headlining artists week in and week out, dance in the best clubs, have the opportunity to listen to so much talent and of course play at!

And finally, what can we expect from your set at zingari?

I am looking forward to celebrating Hatty-Mae and Rachel’s 21st Birthday so lots of ravey, party tracks I’m sure will be cued up on the decks. This is one birthday party not to be missed especially for these two special girls :)

Vibes and Livelee has comandeered the hardcore scene for many years now, with their own unique 'show'. Legends in both the Old Skool and upfront genres, Zingari are hugely proud to announce that we're treating you two both at Zingari!

Livelee, performing as an MC for the legendary Double act Vibes and Livelee, you've seen the hardcore scene evolve and change over the years, where do you think hardcore is going now?

Hardcore will always evolve. The scene in great shape ,we are doing 2 to 3 clubs a week all over the Uk and abroad. We love it how ever it is cause its all about the ravers...

What has been your favourite event to play at?

Always Helter Skelter but nowdays Ravers Reunited and many others.

what can we expect from you and Mr Vibes at zingari?

Madness, some silly wigs and i dont mean Vibeses haircut but the full history of Hardcore business cant wait to play there.Ye haaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

DJ Sawyer, inbetween thai boxing and pursuing ladys on MSN, sawyer also likes to play some filthy, raw breakcore/gabba beats. This loveable yam-yam is going to treat us to a set of this come sixth of september. Will it actually be any good? will he get drunk and steal Mae's sailor hat and dance about like a drunken tit again? We can but hope!

So Sawyer, how did you get into your filthy choice of music?

Going out/Old Tapes, the usual places really.

What events would you recomend if you enjoy said filth music?

2 Pints of Tekno

what can we expect from you at zingari?

Sex pesting

So there you have it, only 8 days to go!
