E:VOLVE NUMBER 4!
E:volve, Custard Factory
10pm – 6am
Saturday 13th September 2008.

Saturday was my 4th E:volve and it was my favourite. The two previous nights held at the Rainbow Warehouse were of course a crazy colour delight but the Custard Factory raised the bar just a bit further. There, with 4 rooms, everyone swarmed around in robotic dancing, crazy jumping, happy floating. I arrived at 12, through the entrance making a square with the rooms. Factory Club Space is the thump-thump-thump of classic E:volve hard house with the likes of their much looked after residents: Dion, Riggsy and Alex Towse (yeah, they gave us what they knew we wanted.) Kitchen held Sunrise’s psy trance, spacey with handfuls of different dancing styles weaving in and out of each other to Jon Kenobi and Techno Hippie, while outside Scum Like Us did their jolted, tricky techno played by (my bit-of-a-favourite) Subcitizen, Mobile Dogwash (live) and Dr Pepperspray. The rooms worked better here, and everyone in them was a happy, bouncing-in-their-step boy or girl. Like kids in a candy shop we all had bright eyes that reflected all the walls and lights, our new friends outfits and our own accessories. Open your mouth to speak, and you’ll meet someone new. Look around, and you’ll see the other regulars, who you knew you could count on being there. The slogan at the bottom of the flyer is “It’s All In The Mix” but you know it’s in a lot more. It’s in our calendars as soon as the date is released, and it’s in our rooms as pictures pinned to the walls, and its rattling around our mouths when we speak to someone. Everyone at the club is bonded, if only just because we all fucking love it. The makers and creators, the promoters, and the proud parents of E:volve smile back to our smiles, which they catch on camera so they can show the world (of dontstayin.com) what they have achieved. Saturday was a hard day to hold a club night, with Qbert and Project X as competition, but it didn’t dent E:volve. Oh no. No way. They were fucking solid.

Dont forget our newest resident Rob Diaz too who played possibly the best warm up set ive ever heard. Anyway glad you enjoyed yourself, and yeah we are looked after...part of the reason we all love being resident for such a wicked club is the fact that not only do we get to play infront of some up the best most up for it clubbers out there, but we are treated with not only respect but as you say, looked after by the owners of Evolve, hats off to Jock, Suz and Paul.

I keep saying it, but onwards and upwards from here! :D

nice review ;-)
except for the mind-crumbling prospect of the 3 hours of sleep before having to go work in a cafe sunday morning, i had a fucking wicked night last saturday. on a good night like E:volve, i really like the way the custard factory gives you corridors to walk along, while still feeling really spacious.
