After a long wait since the last solo Hardcore Marrows event last December, I was well looking forward to a reunion with the crazy crew from Bournemouth. Promoters Ben-C-Hammer and Captain Bosh had secured Club 2XS for the night, and, as it was my first trip to the venue, I was really looking forward to seeing what it had to offer.

I found the club with relative ease and made my way in to help finalise the setting up, before the doors opened to the sounds of ‘+12’ resident Lil Bri. I had been booked to MC to Bri (the first time I had done so) and he didn’t disappoint, slamming in a stomping set with a sprinkling of anthems, mixed with energy and style. It was the perfect start to the night, and the ravers agreed as I was MCing to plenty of happy faces from the start. I was also immediately impressed by the sound system, clear and loud without distorting or being too bassy.

As the venue filled up big time towards the end of Lil Bri’s set, I passed MC responsibility over to my fellow resident Oggy, who was joined by Stu-E and Davidov, the wicked Marrows residents (and sound as a pound:-), playing their infectious bouncy style and mostly their own tunes, which were wicked!! The dancefloor was rammed by the end of this set, and everyone was waiting for the main man, Muffin Music’s legendary DJ Gammer.

Joined by MC Dezire, Gammer played a technically superb, typically crowd pleasing set, showing why he was voted second in last years Hardcore DJ award. The marrows were lapping it up and it continued to stay rammed on the dancefloor for the rest of the night!!! As I had a break from MCing, I took a minute to check out the Hardhouse taking place downstairs. A great lineup had been drawn together for this room too, with the AudioHedz and Caz Wood headlining. I popped in to witness a great atmosphere amongst the hard dance heads, before rushing back to catch the end of Gammer.

Next up in the main room was resident DJ Exalt, fresh from playing the Hardcore Weekender in May, and smashing out a load of favourites which the crowd were loving. I jumped back on the mic alongside Oggy and the ravers were going for it big time. As we approached the final two hours of the night, I took the mic and the wonderful Clodhopper (another top drawer resident) graced the decks, and with an explosion of bouncy basslines she did what she does best, gets ravers stomping damn hard!!!

Last but not least, local super-duo M-Tech and K-12 were set to take the Marrows crew through til the end. K-12 was a bit late, allowing M-Tech the first few moment s of glory to himself :-) . These boys are always good value, and in true Marrows style the crowd really rocked right through to the end.

Overall, the spirit of the Marrows is well and truly alive and I had a brilliant night, as, by the looks of it, did everyone else.

Hardcore Marrows always has been a quality night, with everyone really up for a good party but I have to say that this was one of my favourite nights they have put on so far!!

Absolutely loved playing, thank you to everyone that came to see my set and partied with me...lookin forward to the next one!!

I had a brilliant time playing, the atmosphere was a great one to walk into!! The rooms both upstairs and downstairs were busy and everyone looked like they were having a real laugh!

My first time B2B out since i started DJing at the Marrows Xmas party and it was wicked couldn't have asked for a nicer DJ than Jojo thought we blended really well in style :o)
