ELECTRIC PLAYGROUND ALLNIGHTER SAT 16TH SEPT JUSTIN HARRIS, JOHN BARBER, RICH SUTCLIFFE...
Electric Playground @ Dusk Till Dawn,
Bournemouth UK
Saturday 16th September 2006
Fresh, forward thinking house music with:
Justin Harris
(Freaks, MFF)
John Barber
Rich Sutcliffe

From one Freak to another. Justin Harris comes back to his hometown after contributing to the acid house scene in Bournemouth in the early nineties. Some of you may remember him as half of North & South, the groundbreaking local DJ collective from many years ago. Justin’s career in music has gone from strength to strength since then, DJing worldwide at some of the most credible underground clubs as well as producing some damn fine house music too.

Eight years ago, he teamed up with Luke Solomon (last months guest) to create the groundbreaking Freaks project, who are just finishing their forth album 'PSYCHE!' after the massive global success of their work and a new fresh take on house music.

Also about to be released is his solo album 'Me and My Computer Said' which he has recorded over the last two years which features a more down tempo and sound-scape-ish feel to it. On top of this Justin’s also been pushing his new record label ‘Paranoid’ which has some great releases lined up for this year.

John Barber continues his residency and welcomes Rich Sutcliffe to join him in the Funktion Room. Both of which have been working in the studio on solo projects of late as well as collaborating under the name BASS Experiment. Rich has enjoyed success with releases on Robsoul Recordings and Doubledown this year and John has had a track licensed to Carl Cox’s space mix CD which was released last month.

The ‘back room anything goes’ music policy in The Bar see’s Dusk Till Dawn resident Garry White welcome back Tosh Ohta for this months instalment of Electric Playground…

Thanks for the booking John / Dusk Till Dawn people - really enjoyed it.... Justin was awesome - the return of Bournemouth's prodigal son was well worth the wait - Shame Lee7Seven wasnt here to witness Justin's back to 88 section of his set as Lee's words were "Justin is one of the main reason's I like dance music...." ps does anyone have a copy of the Guide section for yesterday's Guardian as it Electric Playground was listed as one of the top nights in the country...good work John!!

Was a great night on sat, nice to see everyone and have a catch up. Music was quality the whole night upstairs and down (I kept running between the two!)

Can't wait for the 21st.....

PS - Everyone please search for the Guardian Guide and let us know if you find a copy - Well deserved John Barber!

Guys, I work in the press office for Hants police and we keep a catalogue of all national and local press so I'll dig it out this afternoon and make photocopies for anyone who wants one?

I had an awesome time on Saturday for the whole hour I was there - unfortunately, someone had a 'bad back' and it was honestly nothing to do with the amount of Strongbow he'd consumed!

It was lovely to see you all x

Haha!

Most hilarious moment of the evening was Kirsty's impression of the Benni Benassi video in her hard hat back at the boys' flat!

Lee's words were "Justin is one of the main reason's I like dance music....

Tis true. Nigel (North) and Justin (South) were instrumental in breaking house music in Bournemouth back at the end of the eighties / early nineties. So many good records and good nights back then.

Ha ha only joking Kirsto

she reckons she was trying to do an impression of that kid from the frank advert by jumping up and down on the bed whilst jp felt like poop, now you see the sort of shit i have to put up with, haha

Well, perhaps that's something to do with the fact that you passed out at about one o'clock... must've been that bad back...

Erm....must've been, or the fact that I'd been drinking since 4pm....Magners..ooh it does funny things to me...especially when I have about 11....I'll be better behaved next time.
