Frenzy's Birthday had no fucking cake!
Frenzy's 5th birthday party was hugely anticipated within the Bournemouth hard house community and it didn't disappoint. The night was a celebration of five years of throwing mad hard dance parties at nightclubs in Bournemouth, and was a sign of the hard work that has gone in over the last year and a half to make the parties more regular. Since the summer of 2006 Frenzy has hosted hard dance acts such as Nick Sentience, BK, Andy Whitby, Anne Savage, to name just a few.

It was also Frenzy's second hard house and electro event at Dusk Till Dawn nightclub in Bournemouth and the doors opened at 11pm to a crowd of eager hard dance and electro clubbers. Welcoming them into the club was Frenzy resident Carl Phoenix playing a little bit of house and electro to the Bournemouth crowd. Carl soon had the Frenzy faithul grooving on the top floor whilst those wanting their hard house fix from Destiny's DJ Wilma made their way into the basement.

Dylan aka Wilma has played for Frenzy in many venues and he came into this gig fresh off his set at the Old Firestation the week before when Frenzy and Resonate teamed up again. Wilma is no stranger to this venue as he was one of the original Club Destiny crew who used to put all the raves on in Dusk Till Dawn back a few years back. Dylan set the dark basement mood perfectly with his mix of up trancier hard house.

By this point the club was starting to get towards peak time so who better to take over the midnight through til one set than Frenzy's longest standing resident, Mr Cheeky Scott. As reliable as ever he stuck to the task and theme of hard house classics and had the crowd bouncing to the the Frenzy sound for the next hour. As is Frenzy though, there are always a couple of surprises and we had one tonight... like a phoenix from the flames, Big Al stepped briefly out of retirement to play two tracks during Scott's set. An unexpected, but fun surprise.

Back upstairs, Dan Murray was making his Frenzy debut on the house and electro floor. Dan played a mix of tuff and filthy electro tracks and continued where Carl had left off. The top room at Dusk Till Dawn is ideal for this music with its plush decor - this is where the sexy people were doing their thing.

Back underground, and Frenzy's favourite guest star of all time took to the decks. That man is Ed Real. The man's a bit of a stalwart of the hard house scene having been previously head of A&R at Nukleuz, and now bossing Trackitdown. We've lost count of the amount of times Ed has played for Frenzy over the last five years, so it seemed fitting that he should be the star attraction for the night. He delivered as usual.

Following on from Ed was a back to back set from two of the other Frenzy residents, Carl Phoenix and Jo Jo. It was fun all the way as the photos from the event have proved. Moments of note included them bringing the classic track Voodloolover's Lover. The hollow bassline brought the dance floor to a peak and was a great way to lead up into Tidy Girl, and Slinky resident Kym Ayres.

Meanwhile on the top floor the electro lads were cranking their sounds out, as for the first time Frenzy experienced the full Dirty Inc experience of Daina (Jon Merritt) plus his production partner in crime Jay Hales. These lads are going to go far we think already having releases out and played a set of their own material plus some electro anthems.

After the Frenzy dynamic electro duo, we had local hero and radio star Luke Dubyah. This was his final set before he embarked on his Worldly travels so we were very lucky to have him... and he did us proud. We hope to have him back again in 2008! Luke took the night right up until the end and for that we salute him!

The final set in the basement belonged to Kym Ayres. Kym's another firm Frenzy favourite and is one DJ that the Frenzy ask for time and time again. Kym's set was hard as nails as even included a hard dance version of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit to close the night. All in all a cracking success... could we do another five years?
