Ahead of our first Necromancy event, we caught up with northern hardstyle legend & probably the coolest & friendliest dj around, Alan Wilson, and asked him the burning questions we’re all desperate to know the answers to!

so Alan, how long have you been into hardstyle & where was your first ever set?

i got into hardstyle about 2001 when i was in the army..and being posted out in the mother land germany i found a mint little record shop ran by some little old lady who looked liked yoda! she used to bring me out loads of tunes for me to listen to...and that was that...i was hooked!

my first ever gig was for a night called know:fear in manchester...which is still going today as they are hosting the back room for sector-9 lol...shameless plug...played a warm up set that night....and i thought it went pretty well!!

you have been a resident at many club nights over the years, including Binary, Oblivion, Sector-9, and Advokate - where can we catch you the most in 2009?

well 2009 is im hoping *alan crosses his crooked little womans fingers* gonna be a nice year for me...it looks like im doin a two week tour of australia....which is in talks right now, so im kinda excited about that, also some gigs out in holland which will be coming in future months which is always ace for any uk dj, and with sector-9 launching on april 18th im looking forward to the coming months over the year to see this exciting project grow...as i feel its a real great time to be putting on a new harder styles night in manchester as its been quite barren recently......and also binary will be making a huge return!!! but....thats a secret for now....but not forgetting advokate which will continue to push the boundaries of hardstyle in 2008

dj rascal and dj hustler, and the yofridiz...and the legend Mark EG....these guys in my opinion are leading the way for the uk for hardtrance and hardstyle!!! and are head and shoulders about the other "so called hardstyle djs" that are at the top of their game... apparently....lol

best event you've been to or played at?

best event ive been too......prodigy concert last weekend in manchester....EPIC!! it was so good...two drops if semen came out while i was watching them haha

what motivates you?

people always say im a nice guy...and ive got reputation for bein that......i think in this very backstabbing business of djing i seemed to have made a lot of friends...and thats what motivates me :o)

what would be your ultimate event to play at?

ooooh.......Qlimax or ground zero

who or what inspires you?

......well....honest...what inspires me is my dj mates and other promoters that work the bollox off to push themselves or make their nights work....as all of them near enough have to work normal jobs and its really hard trying to compete against the bigger brands that will do near on anything to stop you getting on...and to see my mates keep on battling forward is awesome to see!!!!

whats been your weirdest dj moment so far?

i was at a gig once...and some dude come storming into the dj booth...and was well pissed off....and tried to take all the dj equipment...claiming that it was his and no one asked for permission to use it........i dint argue with him...as he was massive........stank of body odour though lol!!!

your myspace page says Binary is back for 2009 - any more details on this at present?
