Well, what can we say? The boys at +12 cirtainly didnt hold back last Friday and they pulled off possibly one of the best nights the southcoast has seen for a while. From start to finish both Hardcore rooms were stomping and the atmosphere was just out of this world! Queing outside started as early as 9:30pm (even though the doors did not open till 10pm) but people were still rolling in at the early hours of the morning and when chatting to people in the queue you could really tell how much people had been looking forward to the night... even the responce on dontstayin.com and Facebook was amazing so thankyou to everyone for their support in the build up to the night. Firstly, thank you to all of the artists who played room 3, ok so the room wasn't as busy as we would have liked it to be but overall it was a brilliant contribution to Jason Martin for his birthday. Yet from the times I was up there those boys were propper banging out some wicked tunes and looked as though they were having a great time. So BIG thanks to Jody Osman, Lee Jeffery, Matt Handy, Lewis White, Big Al and Daina, Cheeky Scott, Mike-E and Ginger Spinner. Room 2, where do we start? Artists in this room were some of the southcoasts top up'n'coming talent and more. Every set was stomping, every raver in the room was loving every beat those boys played and unsurprisingly, room 2 cirtainly held its own up against the headliners in room 1. The up'n'comers kept the room packed even when the biggest names were on downstairs and that on its own deserves a HUGE amount of respect so well done boys. So shout outs to the room 2 DJ's (in no particular order)... Fingerz (like ur early turn up to get your 'Bang' posters up, lol), Nelza and Koopa, Tactics and Rappid, Lewe-D (unfortunately Grasshopper was unable to make it due to unforseen circumstances but im sure we will see his name on a future +12 flyer), Sammy Trilogy and NU-E, Samo Insane and Redi-Knight (thats right... +12 resident MC was on the decks, not a sight you see too often but always a pleasure), Stu-EG and Dave Wicked White. All you boys thumped out those tunes with the lyrical help of MC's (again, in no particular order) Nutta, Venom, Redi-Knight, NU-E, Sammy Trilogy, Gee, Y-T, Mayhem, Skatty, Markie-C, Lixxy and (for some reason) MC Wotsee... thought it was wicked to see him support the new talents, though wasn't quite sure if he had realised that the main room was downstairs, which is understandable when both rooms were just as busy as one another which was great to see. So BIG respect to all the artists in room 2, you smashed it!! So their are cirtainly some names there to look out for in the future. So, now we get to room 1, and a MASSIVE well done to all the ravers who managed to get down the stairs and into the room without walking into that huge mirror at the bottom!! Room 1 hosted some of the biggest names in the scene today as well as some of the biggest in the history of hardcore itself. From start to finish, just like room 2, room 1 was having it large. Big thanks to MC Gee for filling in for MC Drew on DJ Protocols set... was a wicked set to kick off the main room. +12 residents Electrik Carl and Squires cirtainly didn't hold back in their set and as allways, sped the tempo up slightly which just made the ravers stomp that little bit harder and residents Skatty, Mayhem and Redi-Knight got them ready for the headliners to come! Now then... DJ Druid + MC Sharkey = "96 Rythm Station Rememberence Set"... Oh my god, what an amazing set, for those old enough to remember that far back im sure it brought back those ancient memories and for those of you who were still in nappies it just showed you what you had missed out on and what you will very rarely hear again. The Oldskool smashed the main room apart and I know after talking to Druid and Sharkey that they both loved every minute of it... we do need to bring back some of the propper oldskool!! Following the oldskool set we had the legend that is DJ Dougal, and, he not only turned up early for his set but also stayed around for a while afterwoods which was great to see! The original line-up showed Dougal with UK no. 1 MC Whizzkid, but, unfortunately the Kidd himself was running late! So, who could we turn too to smash the granny out of the main room with a living legend... ravers we present +12 resident and one of the fastest up'n'comers in the scene today... MC Redi-Knight! This young talent was given an opportunity to step up his game, and my god did he do that. Young Redi had the crowd stomping through the whole of Dougal's set, it was also amazing to hear how many ravers knew his lyrics too which just fueled the new star to push his game that little bit further. I spoke to Dougal outside and he was well impressed with the performance of Redi-Knight and in his words "I dont know what that boy was doing but he cirtainly had that crowd stomping, he was doing all the right stuff!" Ravers, Redi-Knight is most certainly set for big things so deffinately keep your eye out for him in the future! Next set of the night saw the nutcase himself, Sharkey, on the decks playing some of the best upfront freeform/hardcore in the NEC and scene today. As he smashed out the tunes he had lyrical masters Casper and Odyssey to entertain the crowd... not a combination you would think to see! Yet, things didnt stop just there as to add to the mix and excitement of things, Whizzkid shows up! So we now hav DJ Sharkey with MC's Whizzkid b2b Casper b2b Odyssey, now where else are ya going to see a combination like that. Unsurprisingly it created a momentous set which will go down as one of the best of the night in my eyes! Stepping in the gap of Sy (who couldn't be there) we then had +12 promoter and DJ Lil Bri... playing out all of your favourite tunes in the industry today Bri entertained the main room with the help of welsh no. 1 MC Wotsee, yes we manged to convince Wotsee that the main room was downstairs! Lil Bri also got the opportunity to play out some of his newest tunes that he has produced with DJ Tactics... one of which was his amazing remix of Lady Ga Ga's "Just Dance" which im sure the ravers thoroughly enjoyed! Finishing off the night in the main room we had Hardcore Breakdown's very own DJ Vapour with MC's Skatty and Casper adding their own special touches to the set helping top the night off and start your ravers Saturday morning with a bang! Ok, so there were a couple of problems with the sound but, overall, whatever way you look at it, the whole night in total was a big success. From the atmosphere in the club and the responce after the event, I think its fair to say that everyone had a wicked time. After +12 "The Final Chapter" in December, many people had no idea as to how the boys could top their last night and it goes without saying when I say that they smashed the last event to peices with +12 "The New Beginnig". Now that +12 has set its name in the scene the next BIG question is... "When is the next one and what are they going to do to top this event?" Only time will tell as nothing has been aranged as of yet but im sure that the boys at +12 are destined for bigger and better things this year and years to come. Special thanks too, not only the artists, but to everyone who helped in the organising and the set-up of the event. Big up to the following... Tris (TGPromotions.com) for recording the DVD, RandomRaver (new DSI Pro-spotter), PompeysRabbit, FreedomAddict and Electrik Carl for taking a shite load of pics of the night, so dont forget to go take a look at them all and spot yourselves as im sure the pictures will prove and show just how good the night was. A MASSIVE thank you to all the ravers who turned up. For value for money I think +12 is at the top of its game and I think I speak on behalf of all when I say that 'I cant wait for the next +12' and that Friday night was probably the best spent £10 you ravers have spent in a long time. So keep your eyes peeled and next time ravers tell even more friends and lets make the next one even bigger and better. Thanks again. Scotty-J Kain-It Promotions (P.S. Eddie B did kiss Sharkey, picture proof will be up as soon as I have gone through my pics)
