Sunday Funday on November the 2nd is our biggest and most ambitious monthly winter festival yet. The incredible Daftasadrum drumming facilitators from Leeds will be leading an hour-long introductary African drumming session, and all equipment will be provided. Led by professional musician Steve Hill who is a professional member of the Drum Facilitators Guild. The rare appearance of Daftasadrum in Bradford City Centre is not to be missed.

"If your heart beats and you can count to four you can drum!", says Steve. "We all need to do silly stuff with a bewildering assortment of drums and percussion toys, stuff you can really wallop. Everyone has a part to play, a contribution to make to the session between 4 and 5pm at the Love Apple Cafe. You bring: your hands and your heart and a sense of fun and playfulness. We guarantee you sore hands, big grins; a chance to shine, and a sense of self-achievement".
Hand drumming is all about having fun, enpowering self-esteem, and exploring the rythym trapped deep within every mind and soul, he adds: - "We let you express yourself rhythmically, and work together to create unscripted in-the-moment music that you could dance to if you weren't so busy drumming.
The entire first act of Sunday Funday is geared towards self-realisation. Besides the drumming circle, there will be a live salsa performance from Bradford-based festival favourites Salsa Como Loco, who's rendition of Cuban sunshine melodies will indeed offer a chance for the fast and furious tribal drummers to unleash their feet on the dancefloor. The chilled-out, "cucumber-cool" ethos of the Love Apple is the ideal place to do your own thing and let your hair down. A family-friendly (licensed) bar/restaurant, besides the music and entertainment, the menu caters for all tastes including vegan food and gluten-free diets. (for directions to find the Love Apple Café Bar, please refer to the map featured on the Sunday Funday myspace).
The fabulous Al Baker will also be calling into the not-for-profit club nite to spread a helping of acoustic consciousness, along with breakbeat regular Immi, a rising star on the Leeds free party scene. Then there's Manchester chilled house DJ Emzly laying down deep soulful house vibes. Funked-out biscuits of aural pleasure are guaranteed in the form of a warm-up set by the distinctive Hobnob DJs who regularly work out the crowds at the Escape Bar, Bradford University, and if they can't get you dancing, or at least, nodding your end-of-weekend head, nobody can.
Thanks to Sunday Funday, the Love Apple is regaining it's long-lost boho soul, and the crew at Sunday Funday have concocted a wicked lethal cocktail of impromptu music dance and circus action. Featuring rythymic drummer Arshad, random circus performers, dancers and musicians are invited to turn up and jam like there's no tomorrow. Nobody knows what the tune will be, nor the comfiguration of aerial patterns weaved by the poi peformers and jugglers, but if you fancy creating history, turn up with your musical instruments or circus equipment and join in the UK's first ever fully-fledged Circus Jam.
Act two also features Bradford-based Alt Track. Their experimentalism will leave you feeling glad to be alive, and throughly refreshed for the rare appearance of Inspirational Sounds (dublab) at Sunday Funday. Inspirational Sounds are the "dub destroyers" of the local scene, and are playing at Bops which takes place at the Mill only two days earlier, so ravers and skankers galore are invited to keep the party flowing, by turning up to Sunday Funday.
If you don't fancy staying in for Antiques Roadshow, period dramas, or repeats of old detective shows on the telly, worrying about work on Monday morning, there is only one place to be, the Love Apple Café bar, near the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford. With partyfied decor by Lix, who is currently working on an installation at Bradford University, and video projections by the one and only Wizardly Visions, the crossover between arts and entertainment is helping Sunday Funday lead the way for twenty-first century entertainment.
